Name: Fainis (AKA Fenris, the Mother of All Murderers, the Empress of Chaos, the Hound of Destruction, the Black Maw, Death's Bride, EXT003, Bitch Queen of the UCA)
Height: 76 meters (149 meters reared on two legs)
Length: 281 meters (to tip of scorpion tail)
Wingspan: N/A
Mass: 38,762 tons
Description:
Personality:
Fainis is sadism come to life. She lives for nothing else than to cause pain in others and will use all means at her disposal to to do so. Although intelligent and self-aware, she is a very base creature that values carnal desires over any sort of spiritual or intellectual fulfillment. She is a beast of the flesh, no time or patience for thought. Cruel and merciless to extremes that not been seen in any other lifeform, sapient or not, from her native reality, Fainis is one of the most feared of all giant creatures to have prowled Earth H-945, dreaded among men and monsters alike. There are few hearts that she does not instantly fill with fear, and even those few souls of exemplary courage or stupidity know not to take her lightly. There is no such thing as peace when Fainis is present- only tension and cold sweat. Despite all her cruelties and monstrous habits, Fainis is also oddly willing to spare the lives of those she defeats in combat. She is far more inclined to deliver heinous injury to those unlucky enough to meet her claws than outright death. In the eyes of the hound, death is a sad end to the demonic games that Fainis likes to play with her victims, so she does not often kill unless fantastic or infuriating circumstances convince her otherwise. She would rather preserve her supply of playmates than thin them out. The more fierce a fight they put up, the more likely they are to survive at Fainis's decision. The hound favors those who provide her with the most fun. She will often avoid battle with weaker creatures altogether. Not that the wolf holds any other dislike of death. Death and destruction are the demon's bread and butter. She kills as easily as she breaths. Battle is her life, her soul, the love of her black heart. Fainis exists for nothing else if not to fight as fiercely and savagely as she can day to day, to feel the blood and beating hearts of her enemies ooze beneath her paws. She is a blood knight of the high order and will stop at nothing to enter the next wondrous string of battles that have always defined her life. Because she does not age, Fainis is destined to die in violence- and she would not have it any other way.
Living Quarters:
Fainis's living space is an awful hellscape of fire, darkness, and poison. The atmosphere in this place is composed of all the deadliest gasses and poisons known to man, same as the proximity dimension that allows her to “teleport” from place to place through the mediums of fire and shadow. There is only a very small section, a 500-meter patch of high ground, that rises above this toxic smog. Though Fainis does not get many visitors, she still welcomes them. Anything that might help her locate her next great companion in chaos. Also resting upon this scant safe zone is the one object that Fainis has bothered to keep over her eons long lifespan- the UCA Championship belt. Displayed proudly on a throne of sorts, Fainis, who does not usually value any sort of material thing, has decided to keep it in prominent view because of all the wonderful injuries and glorious bloodshed that it represents, as well signifying the first meeting she had with one of the her most favored playmates...
Attacks:
- Hell Flare: The foremost and fiercest ability that the savage anomaly known as Fainis wields is her fiery breath. The wolf can spit terrible gouts of orange flame with unearthly properties. These fire blasts seem wild and raging, like an explosion from the wolf's grinning maw, but the vermillion plumes that constantly spill from Fainis's toothy maw are actually only the air igniting around the real threat- a concentrate crimson beam of unknown origin and energy that sets fire to anything it touches, even the atmosphere. Flesh, blood, and bones fares no better. With her insane laughter, Fainis can set the world ablaze along with all who dwell in it. The bloody energy that appears to composes this beam, called “hellfire” or “demon flame” by superstitious soldiers- although it is more technically a form of plasma- is hot enough to melt metal into slag and vaporize water by mere proximity. The blood red substance is also extremely unstable, exploding when it strikes any solid surface or object. Neither flesh or human structure can withstand this detonation. All three of Fainis's frontal heads are capable of spitting this unnatural fire, but the wolf head seems to be the most capable. While the dragon jaws can only spew short, undirected bursts with faltering accuracy and power, the central canine skull can pinpoint and obliterate objects more than 2,000 meters away, as well as strike more general target in excess of 3,000 meters away. It has been tried many times to capture or create a sample of this seemingly supernatural substance, but, due to the unusual circumstances that sometimes occur around its discharge- sudden drops in temperature outside of the blast's range, flashes of spectral light, wavering “doors” or “tears” of pitch black ethereal matter that sometimes appear near the edge of the flames- it is speculated by figures both prominent and little known that it is not a phenomenon that should occur naturally in our world, and, by extension, neither is Fainis. The fires of Fainis- her terrible “hell flames”- may actually be extradimensional. The demon dog's stained teeth glow a translucent red before the use of this attack.
- Pitch Claws: Unusual black claws tip each of EXT003's four lanky legs. These gnarled talons are not made of keratin like a normal canine's, but are instead composed of a dense crystallike mineral that acts as host to an unknown type of energy, a sort of shadow essence that is intangible to shielding and counterattacks, but can cut as deeply as any tangible blade. There is no current explanation for this varied corporeality, but the reality of it is well known. This “shadow strike” has bypassed metal plating, boney armor, and even thick hide to slice directly into the bare flesh or circuitry of its target. It also has the effect of chilling wounds to blisteringly low temperatures. Areas victim to this swinging strike will become cold and brittle, making them vulnerable to further attack. The “shadow strike” is mainly a melee ability, but can be utilized at range too. Fainis is able to throw her demonic shadow essence by swiping her claws through the air. Not tremendously accurate, and only able to reach a distance of about two hundred meters, but an extremely quick attack, clocking in at 450 to 680 mph.
- Hell Maw: Fainis's canine teeth are made up of the same crystalline material as her claws, though they hold the energetic property of fire rather than shadows. The wolf can ignite her mouthful of fangs with liquid hellfire to produce a bite that causes severe burns alongside the tissue trauma of a 9,000 ton dog bite. EXT003 can also form a projectile attack by slamming her infernal jaws shut and launching a pulse wave of heated air and fire, although the strength of this ranged attack is scant compared to the wolf queen's bite itself, so it is used only when a target moves out of range.
- Acid Stream: The snarling serpent and barbed scorpion stinger that hang above Fainis's evil head are filled with “acid” and can launch the liquid substance in a wide conical stream stretching more than fifty meters from the wolf. The “acid” is really an unknown venom compound. It does not corrode hide, but instead causes extreme and specific pain by targeting nerve endings. What's more, testing on lab animals has shown that the toxin actually hypersensitises pain receptors, causing exaggerated pain response. It has no effect on nonorganic material though.
- Savage Bite: Even ignoring its supernatural properties, the maw of Fainis is a hugely dangerous weapon. The wolf weighs in with one of the most devastating bites among all giant creatures, rendering flesh with not just raw muscle, but with jagged teeth and a broad sadistic streak too. Fainis never just bites. She rolls, she rips, she lacerates, she filets, she wounds in ways that do not at first seem possible. The black canine fangs alone are dangerous, but the mad cruelty and genius behind them create a weapon of almost unmatched lethality. When the demon hound grins, she brings to bare one of her most feared tools of mass mutilation. Her smile is not just an expression of her insanity. It is a promise of everlasting pain. The reptilian heads that rise from the shoulders of the great hound are even more ferocious weapons, though they are not as commonly used because of their odd placement on her body. Landing a solid bite can be a long, awkward procedure, but, if it connects, also a supremely devastating one. With sharp, serrated triangular teeth and a jaw strength proportional to a crocodile, these dragon mugs can rip victims apart like voracious scaly sharks. Each is in easy reach of the other, so a bite is rarely an isolated incident. Once one draws blood, the others swing around to partake in the violence, leading to a brutal tug of war that can rip flesh to ragged ribbons in mere seconds.
- Raptorial Forearms: Clasped between Fainis's frontmost set of canine limbs are small saurian arms. These clawed grasping limbs are capable of wicked speed and fierce grips, anchoring the demon wolf to her victims like short land bridges. While usually clutched close to her chest like the raptorial limbs of a mantis or predatory shrimp, the well muscled limbs can shoot out and sink their hooked talons into victims, withstanding up to 7,000 tons of force despite their slight length.
- Pincers: Fainis's overwhelming offensive prowess is not limited to her front side. Snapping at the wolf's sides like angry crab claws, EXT003 is armed with twin scorpion pincers. These horny black claws are lined by razor serrations and jagged cutting hairs, drawing blood not only with their vice-like grip, but also with the bristly fur that sprouts from their pebbled surface. These powerful grasping limbs can each restrain up to 9,000 tons, giving the wolf a combined gripping power of 18,000 tons laterally.
- Twin Tails: Completing Fainis's circular offense are two bestial tails that rise from her rump twitching and flailing at all times like angry spirits or stolen body parts anchored to her backside. One is a savage snake who, in addition to spitting venomous acid, is also armed with numerous needlelike fangs that can sink deep and hold onto unarmored flesh like pearly Velcro hooks. The other is a hairy scorpion's tail tipped by a curved stinger. While most of this tail's potency comes, again, from its nerve poison, its serrated length is also a wicked cutting tool, carving through any flesh that its fails to envenomate like an ebony saber.
Powers:
- Transdimensional Travel: Like a demonic shark or crocodile, Fainis has the stealth ability to be swallowed by or leap from shadows and fire as if they were pools of water. Believed to be accessing a secondary dimension underlaying our own when she vanished from sight, the vicious hound literally 'swims' beneath our world and jumps up like a lunging predator to attack once she has repositioned herself advantageously. It is believed that the pocket dimension accessed by Fainis for these brutal ambush tactics is actually a sort of personal plane, a splinter world that she had molded for herself to dwell and recuperate in when she does not walk the surface of our world. This “proximity dimension” appears to be an awful, inhumane place, as its use is accompanied by the strong smell of smoke and sulfur, deadly billows of poisonous gas, and the distant echo of unearthly howling. Many believe this dimensional living cell to be a portion of Hell itself, and that Fainis is its feral guardian or escaped prisoner. The slinking shape of the wolf is sometimes seen moving across the ground as a shadow when she moves through her satanic land of origin. Fire also sometimes springs from the ground in her path.
- Bottomless Gob: The smoldering jaws of Fainis, while not an entrance to fields of endless fire or pools of boiling acid, as is suspected by many religious factions, are still a thing that any person, pure or sinful, should fear with mortal shivers wracking their body. Though it does not serve explicitly as a place of biblical torment for sinners and evildoers, the fanged maw of the wolf does act as a focal point for the unknown energy- or, “magic”, as it might otherwise be called- that works to propel her between worlds, turning the hound's nightmarish mouth into a literal gateway that leads to an alien realm. It seems as if the proximity dimension created by the presence of Fainis is actually contained within her body, though whether this is by coincidence or design is known to no one but the devil dog herself. Due to the infinite nature of her gullet, Fainis can eat enormous quantities of food and swallow things larger than her entire body whole. It is also not unreasonable to assume that her dreaded Hell Flares are not a phenomenon actively generated by her biology, but rather energy or atmosphere channeled from the hellish realm held captive within. This is still merely conjecture though.
- Optic-Based Hormonal Control: Through means that we cannot yet understand, Fainis is able to alter emotions with mere eye contact. Fluid examination after close encounters with the wolf suggest that she achieves this sadistic influence through an involuntary trigger in hormone levels, but it is still unknown exactly how she can trigger this response. Some theories have suggested pheromones or enzymes in her saliva, but it has clearly been displayed that victimization only requires meeting eyes with the hound. Fainis most prominently uses this unorthodox power to induce crippling fear in her foes, but has also been known to produce infatuation in her victims.
- Thermal Resilience: Fainis shows extreme resistance to high temperatures. The wolf wades through the oceans of fire and molten metal she carves through cites without visible effect, and has so far been unaffected by the heat rays of other giant creatures. Her fur seems to be fire retardant. It has never once been seen catching fire even under heavy military fire or creature attack. The only sort of discharges that have been noted effective on Fainis are powerful electric strikes.
- Alien Air: EXT003 has displayed a distinct lack of necessity for oxygen in her bloody war against humanity, on separate occasions breathing smoke, poison gas, and even once noxious fumes from a launching space shuttle without any visible change in her biology or health. The hound's aversion to being completely submerged in water suggests that she requires some sort of gaseous intake, but it is unclear if her alien body needs any specific gas or gas mixture. The atmosphere of the wolf's proximity dimension has not displayed a consistent composition, holding different values of sulfur, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and boron trifluoride with each testing of what little samples we have captured from its forbidden depths.
- Scarred Skin: Beneath her jagged fur coat, Fainis is protected by tough black skin that shows surprisingly durability even against military and kaiju attack. As oppose to being naturally armored or thick-hided, the wold is guarded by dense flesh that has been hardened by hundreds of years of combat and is marked by almost uninterrupted scarring and calluses. This irregular hide is capable of deflecting gunfire, teeth, and claws with ease, although more powerful weapon can breach its cratered surface.
- Resilience: Though she is not totally immune to it by any means, Fainis seems to have an exceptional threshold for pain. The wolf can bear with a grin what most creatures cannot stand with terrible squealing. The chimeric hound even appears to enjoy injury to some extent, laughing or barking loudly when she is dealt especially heinous wounds. It seems like Fainis revels in all forms of suffering, even her own.
- Speed Demon: Fainis's long legs, lean frame, and scant weight all work in tangent to carry her at great speeds over land. The wolf can bound at almost 980 mph when she is in good shape.
Weaknesses:
- Music does not soothe the savage beast in the case of EXT003, but it does reduce her to agonized spasms. For reason that we cannot now understand, the sound of religious chanting or hymns causes Fainis extreme pain. The faith does not matter, only that it is sung with faith. It seems that humanity knew this in the past, because the demon wolf is known to avoid churches and alter her path to give holy cities and worship sites a wide berth. It appears that man once waged war on her in song, and Fainis has learned to pick her battles carefully because of it.
- Although Fainis's main body and frontal heads all show above average durability, her scorpion pincers and tails are more vulnerable to attack. The carapace and scales of these secondary limbs simply do not have the same defensively capability that her scarred hide and jagged coat possess. The wolf's notable resilience to pain also seems to be less around these extremities.
History:
There are many stories about how Fainis came to be. Practically as many as there are stars in the sky. One such tale says that she was born alongside the Outer World- a microdimension closely linked to ours that has sometimes been breached and recognized by the human mind under names such as the underworld or Hell- as a sort of sibling to the fiery plane that she calls home and went mad during the eternity spent waiting for the company of another intelligent creature. Another tale claims that when the old lord of the Outer World died, five creatures of equal strength and cunning- a hound, a snake, two dragons, and a scorpion- each believed that they were the worthy successor to his throne and began to fight. They battled so fiercely and for so long that their bodies fused and their brains were mashed into one mad lump, creating the insane chimera and giving her the throne of her world. Another story about the battle for the throne says that it did not create Fainis directly, but generated so much bloodshed and chaos that the violence was given physical form and took its vengeance on its waring parents by ending the battle and stealing the crown. The newly born hound's first feast was upon the corpses of the five beasts that created it in this version of the tale.
The reality of Fainis is far less fantastic that all of that, though no less terrifying. She is old; not as old as her world, but older than the whole of human civilization. She is mad, but not to such a degree that she has ever stopped being keenly aware of the atrocities that she commits every day. She ruled her world for an eon, generating an persistent state of anarchy and unrest before she made the migration to our world, but not because she earned it in a proper due or anything so orderly as that. She ruled for so long because she was strong and savage enough to kill whoever else wished to rule.
No one knows why Fainis is the way she is today, and has been for a long time, but there is one thing that is known: we are all the worse for it.
Fainis was known to Earth H-945 long before she made her permanent move there in 2024. Stories of supernaturally huge wolves saturate ancient Norse mythology and multiheaded dogs prowl the legends of the Greek. Apparently it was once not uncommon for the queen of the Outer World to slink onto the face of our planet and raze it with death and hell flames when she grew bored of holding the throne.
But these people of old were the only ones to bear common witness to the great hound until recent times. A crisis at home has held her attention since the late eighth century- the captivity of her home under ours. The Outer World, a phantom plane that drifted through the void between worlds since before the start of time, became trapped beneath our world in 780. It anchored naturally to our world through physical points because traffic between the two dimensions had caused them to become closely linked. Teleportation between the two worlds is accomplished by harassing the natural energy of either realm and using it to propel the user through the void, a skill naturally imbued in all Outer Wonders and very occasionally seen in ours as 'magic.' Travel back and forth between the worlds caused their energies to become more and more alike. Fusion was the ultimate result.
The Outer World gained a fixed point after this natural melding, loosing its nonspecific nature in the void and ceasing all movement through the space between worlds. This hindered the main occupation of its beastly inhabitants- piracy. The demons of the Outer World had long made a living by invading and pillaging larger planes, taking advantage of their world's shifting placement to strike dimensions in a rotating pattern that could stretch for thousands of years, spacing out incursions so that no permanent connection was ever made between worlds. When the Outer World became stuck, the cycle was broken and the demons were forced to begin labor on goods of their own.
A mean, warlike people that enjoy combat over craftsmanship, the Outer Worlders soon grew restless and angry- and their rage was focused at their queen. Fainis's quests into our world were well known among her subjects, so when the Outer World became anchored to Earth, they began to blame her. She was the only Outer Worlders brash enough to consistently torment the same world and risk a permanent link. While random circumstance and cosmic coincidence likely played their parts, Fainis was, at least in some small way, responsible for the crisis. The fear she had instilled in her subjects for millenniums kept the Outer Worlders from resorting to revolution for over a thousand years, but the pressure upon the throne was enough to stop Fainis's visits to our world, or rather lessen them, because apparently the hound encountered Kedos Croder, who is not believed to have been born until the late thirteen century, at some point in their history, so she must have continued her earthly ventures until them, though they likely were sparse by this point as historical records of her were are no longer prominent.
Eventually fear wore thin and a rebellion was organized by the Outer Worlders against their cruel queen. The ringleader of the revolt, a youthful sorcerer called Dar Felinus, though not as physically fierce as Fainis, had formidable charm and cunning on his side and overthrew her with the support of dozens of loyal followers, banishing her to the world that she had doomed her people to lay trapped under for all time. She was barred from returning to the Outer World by the powerful magic of Dar Felinus, effectively stranding her on Earth H-945.
After she finished brewing in her own personal dimension- a result of her powerful ambient magic- for several bitter decades, Fainis finally got bored with her anger and decided to have some fun. Emerging in Abu Dhabi on July 2nd, 2024, the demon attacked the maiden launch of the commercial space shuttle programmed being hosted by the wealthy city. Catching would have been the first publicly available craft launched into space in midair and ripping it apart, Fainis hoped to attract attention from one of the other monstrous creatures that had risen across the Earth, but was instead confronted by the ragged collection of military minds and untested vehicles that would soon become the GAAF. Although the wolf was disappointed that she would not get a equally massive playmate to maul, she still took great joy in mowing through the lines of men and weapons that marched to stop her. Many civilians and soldiers alike perished beneath her paws or between her teeth, but, fortunately for the joint nations of the world, the aurora ray- an experimental wave ray weapon that had not yet been tested in the field- proved strong enough to phase Fainis. The lancing green beam burned clean through the wild pelt of the deposed queen and bit into her flesh, causing Fainis true pain for the first time in many years. The powerful boring weapon cutting deep into her hide, the wolf was eventually driven away with fresh scars across her scorched and bloody coat.
The Hound of Destruction would not be seen again until exactly two weeks after the battle in Abu Dhabi, when the alien monstrosity Strider arrived on earth riding a meteor. After the organic death machine toppled the combined forces of Kedos, Quetzar, and the Sub-Titan, Fainis, along with the monstrous mother Drakia and the aurora rays- once foes, now allies- of the the pre-GAAF forces, challenged the long-legged killer in the streets of London. The shelled creature proved incredibly durable and difficult to kill, but it was not invincible. Its impenetrable armor was sliced to ribbons by volley after volley of aurora rays and its vulnerable throat and head were victim to Drakia's plunging fangs. Fainis herself delivered the final blow- by thrusting her head inside of Strider's large, hollow body cavity and obliterating the energy cells that drove the nigh unstoppable beast with a blast of ethereal fire.
Captured and transported along with Drakia, Kedos, Quetzar, and the Sub-Titan not long after the monumental victory over Strider, Fainis quickly made a name for herself by earning the tile of UCA Champion, becoming involved in an long term squabble with Champion hopeful and fellow sadist Neo-SpaceGodzilla, making enemies with the old League of Villains, and even battling one of the almighty Horsemen- a fight that very nearly cost the wolf her life. In order to continue her legacy of violence and bloodshed, Fainis will soon be defending her spot as UCA Champion once again. And whether or not she keeps the title, all within the viewing walls or inside the gladiatorial rings of the UCA known to love and fear Fainis, Bitch Queen of the UCA!
