(with 8 legs and bigger claws, like in this picture)
Thanks to Scatha-the-Worm for the pic!
Personality:
First and foremost, Heavyclaws is primarily a ranged fighter, using his assorted weaponry to overwhelm opponents with ridiculous amounts of firepower. Beyond that, he could best be described as overly-dramatic. He often strikes poses and executes Unnecessary Combat Rolls, and, to a small extent, uses Gun Fu. When the battlefield allows for it, he will use his claws as grappling hooks to pull and swing himself around (becoming almost Kratos-like in extreme cases). He also has a habit of Calling His Attacks. This comes in the form of Engrish, which is made doubly odd when one considers he speaks perfect English outside of combat (aside from a strange “tick” he has, in which he usually adds “ko kee” onto the end of sentences) (NOTE: this is not to say he’ll carry on conversations with monsters, either in battle or in the Hub. He will understand them, however). He doesn’t do this every time -in fact he usually doesn’t do it- but he throws them out fairly regularly. On rare occasion, he’ll use other Engrish phrases, generally in response to an opponent’s attack. Outside of combat, he is friendly (and often outright goofy) around those he knows.
Attacks:
- Claws: Obviously, Heavclaws possesses a pair of large, powerful pincers. While they lack the ungodly crushing power of some monsters’ claws and jaws, their power still should not be underestimated. Additionally, they have a locking mechanism that makes them extremely difficult to remove once latched onto something. The entire front section of the claws can be launched via rocket boosters. They remain attached to the arms by thick cables, allowing them to be retracted at will. If the claws are latched onto something, this will result in either the object being dragged toward Heavyclaws or vice-versa.
- Spear Legs: Each of Heavyclaws’ eight legs is tipped with a sharp spike. Useful both for putting holes in his opponents and anchoring himself to the ground.
- Gatling Guns: Concealed within both of Heavyclaws’ pincers are four Gatling guns, for a total of eight. When activated, armor panels on the top, bottom, and sides of the claws slide open and the guns extend outward from the openings. The firing rate of these weapons is quite low compared to modern rotary cannons (thanks to their sheer size), being only 700 rounds per minute, but the sheer number of guns more than compensates. They utilize High Explosive Incendiary/Armor Piercing ammunition for maximum effectiveness against monsters.
- Eye Lasers: Heavyclaws can fire thin red lasers from his eyes. These lasers lack any sort of explosive or kinetic properties, and instead possess high heat. This, combined with the thinness of the beams, gives them very good cutting power. They usually cauterize the wounds they cause.
- Missiles: Numerous missiles are concealed under multiple hatches on top of Heavyclaws’ shell. When fired, the missiles first launch straight up before veering toward the target. They often follow (seemingly) unnecessarily winding trajectories on their way to the target, but the purpose of this is to make them harder to dodge or intercept. They also have a tendency to strike the target from angles other than head-on, making them still more difficult to defend against. On top of that, their homing and maneuvering capabilities are nothing short of ridiculous, being able to turn a full 180 degrees almost on a dime in pursuit of a target. The warheads of these missiles are inactive until fired, meaning they won’t explode unless fired at a target. So trying to set them off while they’re still in their launchers in an attempt to make them backfire is useless. Comparable in power to Kiryu’s missiles.
- Claw Cannons: Between the two fingers of each claw is a retractable cannon barrel. These cannons fire volatile blasts of yellow plasma. Unlike the shots fired from Orion’s Plasma Rifle, these are more “solid” in appearance (like standard energy projectiles) and are highly explosive. Comparable in power to Desghidorah’s Lava Gout energy bolts.
- Hyper Claw Cannons: By increasing the output of his Claw Cannons far beyond their normal operating capacity, Heavyclaws can fire a huge yellow energy beam comparable in power to Heisei Mechagodzilla’s Plasma Grenade. Limited to two uses per battle (one per claw), because overloading the cannons in this way more than once could result in catastrophic failure of the weapon.
Powers:
- Armor: Being a giant, mechanical crab, it comes as no surprise that Heavyclaws possesses thick armor.
- Jet Propulsion: Around the perimeter of Heavyclaws’ body are 6 powerful water jets which can propel him through the water at high speeds. They’re mounted on ball joints imbedded in his armor, allowing them to swivel around freely and grant him exceptional maneuverability. His “mouth” serves as the intake for these jets, and is covered by a pair of armor plates when not in use.
- Water Spray: Heavyclaws can turn the same water jets which propel him on his opponents. Not really any use for inflicting damage, but they’re good for distracting and disorienting foes. He can carry enough water inside his body for a couple quick sprays, but needs a water source for any more than that.
- Vision Modes: Heavyclaws can switch between normal, night vision, and infrared vision modes.
- Shielding: Heavyclaws’ circuits are heavily shielded from electromagnetism and other such things that would normally fry sensitive electronics.
