With the Orsa storyline quickly drawing to a close, it's time to start getting back to business. That means title defenses! In the near future - at some point in the early part of January, I hope - the process to determine number 1 contenders for the titles will get underway. Now, I don't want to do any long, drawn-out tournaments or giant free-for-alls or anything for these. Just one match between two fighters to determine the #1 contender. I will not be signing up for any matches except in the off chance that there's a vacant spot. The current title holders are: UCA Champion: Fenris Tag Team Champions: Talizan & Vacant Brawler Champion: Harbinger Robotica Champion: Rustred (I totally never noticed his name was never added to the Championships thread. Oops. >_>) ucarena.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=872UCA Championship Contenders: Tel Megiddo and Mara Tag Team Championship Contenders: Kitamura/Titernia and Persephone/Lenneth Brawler Championship Contenders: Ontslaan and Tarakona Robotica Championship Contenders: Annihilator and Abaddon Hold off on signing up for the Tag Team Championships for now, as we're going to have to fill the vacancy with the title holders. I know Quetzar was being discussed to fill this, was that ever locked in? If so, I'll get with Hayes and KK and we'll work out the details on that.

Just checked some old PMs. Me n' KK did agree to partner Taligon and Quetzar together, though I don't know if that alone decided it or if he had some more hoops to jump through his side or what. He never did respond, but that could have just been because the conversation was over of course. Basically, I'd wait for his word on it too before locking it in. It's been a while and a lot has happen since then.

As far as I remember, Tal and Quetz are still TTC partners. I can confirm that.

Oh, what the hell? I'll throw Arc's name into the pot for the Brawler Championship!

Oh, what the hell? I'll throw Arc's name into the pot for the Brawler Championship! I know he was accepted in the Brawler Championship a while back, but there's something I always wondered about that. Arc has electric powers, and the rules say "Kaiju that take part must follow the Brawler Championship rules, meaning only monsters that fight 100% hand-to-hand can take part. No projectile attacks of any kind!". Edit: Hmm. I just went to check his stats. He can surge lightning through his weapons, but that doesn't that still make him not 100% melee-based? Maybe the rules were just worded wrongly and what is meant is simply no projectile attacks, and Arc is accepted because he can only surge lightning, not shoot bolts.

Brawler championship, huh? Well, Nanook's already in (his last) battle, so I suppose Abaddon could join the others.

Well, the rule is "no ranged attacks," right? Arc is electrical, but still has to make physical contact in order to electrify. Sorta like how some of the other fighters in the original Championship match had poisonous strikes (Suchodon, Mathayus) or heated blows (Ontslaan), but did not actually shoot venom or breathe fire.

That's what I came to believe as well. Now... me struggling to post on time and not knowing what to do else in my posts in Gira and I's battle makes it clear I need to take a little break... or just find some more motivation. I'm still pondering if I'll join or not, but I'm curious about something. If I signed Masser up for the Tag Team match, would anyone like to side with her? I'm aware she has little resistance to heat-based attacks (just enough to withstand her laser stuff), but going with Kit would utterly suck for Talizan and Quetzar, as most of their attacks are fire-based and trying to hurt Kitamura with fire is like trying to hurt water by throwing water in it. I'm asking for the Tag Team because I'm not suicidal enough to throw my hat to face Fenris. Masser might be one tough cookie, but I am not. My fighting skills are nowhere near as close as Hayes'. None of my beasties qualify for the Brawler match, so... that leaves the robot one, but again, Halion (he's my only mech) would get destroyed before the Announcer even yelled "FIGHT!".

If we are allowed to submit two fighters, I'll submit Ontslaan to the brawler championship, and I'll submit Tel for the UCA championship. Yeah, the crazy psychos need their chance to shine!

I'll be here for title defense with Harbinger. I'm contemplating throwing in Darktide or one of my (many) mechs at the Robotica, or possibly someone in the tag match, if anyone wants to partner.

Hmm, that's 3 volunteers for the Brawler Championship. I'd rather just 2, so we only need 1 match to decide the #1 contender. I guess we could do a 3-way, but like I said I'd like to keep it 1-on-1.
And yes, the Brawler Title is for exclusively melee fighters. Special melee attacks like energy surges, venom, exploding punches, etc are fine. As long as it requires physical contact in order to deal damage, it's pretty much fair game. It's just monsters with actual ranged attacks like beams, missiles, sonic roars, etc that can't participate.
Also, in regards to the Tag Team sign ups, I would very much prefer it if the teams weren't just random monsters paired up like we originally did. The partnerships should make sense.

Aye, that's why I'm waiting to see who would want to pair with Masser - so I can evaluate which ally would fit best. Wouldn't want her to maul her ally rather than her enemies if she doesn't like them at all, now would we? I'm thinking it would be awesome if either Haiiro Kisaki or Photon volunteered, since she already met them and liked them both. However, Haiiro is more of a one-on-one fighter, and I think she would have trouble against speedier beasties like Quetzar and Talizan. But, the difference here is that she'd have an ally. (Still, I don't think Dan will want.) As for Phots, well, that depends if Hayes accepts and is willing to fight himself. Also, depending on the post order, he might have to post twice in a row, and believe me when I say that can be exhausting. Don't want to pull them both into something they'd dislike. I'll resort to waiting and seeing. *rest chin on hands*

I can withdraw Ontslaan from the Brawler Championship if you want. She's already had her opportunity for the title, after all.
Haiiro would be interesting, as would Kori, though Kori might work better, since Masser isn't exactly on Haiiro's good side (she DID kinda get flung around like a rag doll by her, lol).

Are you telling me Lao Shan Lungs aren't supposed to fly?! Lol. Just kiddin', yes, Kori seems like a more likely choice.
