(Sorry for the delay. Work ate my free time.)
As the trees pinning Cerberus to the ground burned, along with the forest around it, Cerberus began to shift under the wood pile. Fire wasn't so much of an issue for him. Even with the exposed and damaged armor, he was still fairly resistant to things as mundame as normal fire. The Hessian stood tall, waiting for his opponent to rise out of the burning haze, when suddenly Zach could see movement, as he sidestepped twin particle beams that were aimed for his head. He tried ot bring his guns to bear against Cerberus, but multiple explosions rocked his machine as the nanite charges were detonated, leaving smoking craters in the Hessian's armor and widening the existing gaps.
Cerberus emerged from the smoke, looking more like his namesake than ever as firelight reflected off his visor, giving his single 'eye' a demonic look. The CEE mech unleahsed a piercing shriek as he lunged forward, gears grinding and pistons pumping as he closed on the Hessian before slamming the secondary jaws shut around the machine's flanks, crushing and tearing armor plating before ripping loose more sections of it. Sparks flew as the Hessian and its pilot tried to fight back, but their efforts were quickly suppressed as Cerberus jammed both tentacles into the newest wounds and began to drill into the Hessian's interior. With the armor out of the way, few things could stop Cerberus now as he tore his way through the Hessian's insides.
However, Zach could delay the inevitable, as the Hessian smashed an armor plated first into the side of Cerberus' head, knocking the CEE machine loose. Cerberus staggered back for a moment, tentacles retracting before preparing to fire right at the Hessian's face...

The beams exploded on the Hessian’s domed head, covering its entire top half in a fountain of blinding fire and smoke. Inside the cockpit, Zachary held the controls with a death grip. He gritted his teeth, ignoring the violent shaking and spinning red lights. As blood dripped from the corner of his mouth, an accident from him biting his lip during the assault, he thrust the Hessian’s weapon hand up. From the wrist, a deadly blade emerged with “swiiish” noise.
Before the Cerberus could pullback, the Hessian’s harpoon was stabbed into its exposed mid-section! The sharp steel tore through the protective coating of the circuits. Leaving the blade imbedded, Zach began to surge raw power into the blade. With the blade having cut through the protective coating, the electricity began to race into the exposed innards!
Cerberus’ eyes began to flash and sparks shot from its three maws. Ripping the blade free with a metal-on-metal clang, Zach brought the shotgun up again. Thrusting it up underneath the highest skull, the gun fired! The head exploded into a blinding flash, decimating the snapping jaws. Chunks of CEE’s armor bounced off of Hessian’s body as Cerberus was lifted off its feet from the blast and flew up a few meters higher than its normal stance.
Falling back, the machine buckled and fell onto its back. Zach looked at the damage caused, grinning as he saw exposed gears and circuits. He was surprised the jaw was even able to function any more! He pointed the electrical harpoon at the opened wound and smirked. “Fire.”
The harpoon leaped from the Hessian’s hand and smashed into the open, sparking wound caused by the recent blast. The sharp edges cut through the protection once again, giving the electrical current a direct route into its inner workings! The machine’s body began to flail as countless bolts fried its inside systems. Its three eyes began to dim, smoke and fires building in all three jaws. Zach watched on, smiling as the built-in power generator of the harpoon channeled all of its powers into Cerberus.
Then, suddenly, it stopped! “Damn. Knew I should have told them to increase the maximum power output.” He commented after it shut down after just a minute.
Cerberus began to “recover”, but its movements were starting to work wonky, almost twitchy. Zach looked down at the controls, biting his lip once again. This battle was taking a huge affect on his machine also. Numerous systems had shut down, including fire extinguisher systems. He brought up his shotgun again, aiming for the open jaw/neck wound and harpoon. If fired, it’d open the wound even further and drive the harpoon even deeper!

Cerberus jerked forward, more in an attempt to close in with the Hessian than avoid a hit, and instead only got a shotgun blast to the shoulder, the pellets shredding armor, but the missile stocks had long since been depleted. As Zach cursed under his breath and tried to reacquire the target, Cerberus closed both secondary maws around the Hessian's legs and ripped loose chunks of armor plating, the rivets and bolts popping as they strained against the power the CEE mech still wielded. As the Hessian prepared to fire again, Cerberus sent a simple command as explosions rocked the Hessian, the bombs that had been building up for the last few attacks finally detonated, spraying shrapnel everywhere and performing the seemingly impossible task of bringing the Hessian to its knees!
As the Hessian struggled to rise, warning sirens blaring inside the cockpit and smoke billowing out of the multitude of holes in his armor, Cerberus began to back away. Familiar arcs of electricity formed around the three-headed machine's chest plates as they split open, revealing the Magnetic Pulse Cannon once more. Cerberus had saved this last shot, and with the mounting damage, it seemed necessary to use it. Cerberus slammed his feet to the ground as the Hessian feebly raised an arm in an attempt to thwart the attack. But ti was too late. Bolts of electricity arced forward as the MPC fired. Electricity arced all over the Hessian as the beam ripped away additional armor plating. Sparks flew and more smoke poured from the damaged cycloptic mech.
The Hessian toppled to the ground, sparking and sputtering as it went, sending out a reverberating boom across the landscape. Cerberus' chest plates closed up, the weapons power supply and systems having since burned out. But the order to quit had not yet been given, meaning the Hessian could still fight. And so, Cerberus aimed both particle cannons and the piercer lasers at the Hessian, then fired...

Inside the cockpit, Zach gritted his teeth and held on. The entire machine shook violently when the beams struck, blasting new holes in its silver armor. When the attacks ceased, all new warnings sounded. "Stop your bitching, 'Hes!" Zach demanded, slamming his fist on the controls, turning off the alarms.
He pressed for more commands, but several systems had been fried. "Come on, restart!" He shouted inside, trickles of blood falling from his helmet. He rebooted the system numerous times, but kept receiving blue screens. On the fifth try, the system finally came back. "Thank you!"
He announced, making the monolith move. He lifted the shotgun again, firing at the damaged neck of the three-headed mech. He fired, blasting it back and enlarging the gaping wound, making the maw spit fire, smoke, and pieces of shrapnel. The Hessian pushed itself off the ruined ground, taking a wobbly stance as its joints moaned.
"I want your head!" The young pilot announced, making its weapon hand spin and lash out at the sparking neck! The saw cut through the damaged metal and circuits, nearly decapitating the mech! He ripped the arm back placed the shotgun mere meters in front of the open chest plate. The gun fired, blasting Cerberus hard and throwing the machine onto its back, holes spewing sparks and flames!
The Hessian took numerous steps back and began to fire its crimson beam... aiming for the damaged neck.

Fortunately, Cerberus's joints chose that moment to fail as the machine dropped to one knee, the crimson beam passing where his neck had been moments before. Zach cursed under his breath as Cerberus's tentacles, complete with independent targeting systems, lashed forward and began to dig inside the holes in the Hessian's armor, shredding more circuitry and superstructure as the burrowed. The Hessian jittered and sparked as Cerberus began to rise once more. The three headed machine ripped the spinning blades out of the Hessian, doing more damage as they exited before retracting back to Cerberus.
The mech's visor flickered and dimmed for a moment before glowing brightly once more. Cerberus had managed to reroute power around the damaged sections, but the servos and pistons in the main head still didn't want to function. Still Cerberus didn't need the main head, not for this anyway. He lashed out with one of the secondary heads and clamped it shut on the Hessian's side and ripped loose a chunk of armor plating before firing the lasers into the hole. Sparks and flames erupted from the hole as the lasers punched through all manner of equipment.
But the Hessian was not out of the fight entirely, as an armor plated fist slammed into Cerberus' chest, sending the CEE mech staggering backwards. But Cerberus was far from finished. With one final mental command, he detonated the recently implanted explosives, widening the gap even further and leaving the Hessian vulnerable to one final strike, as the tentacles prepared to fire their particle cannons into the gap...

Inside the cockpit, smoke was starting to fill the air. Automatically, an oxygen mask lowered from Zach's mask, protecting his lungs from the blackness. He didn't need to see the controls. For so long he piloted the Hessian, he knew how to work it better than he could his own body!
He lifted the shotgun just as the beams fired, allowing them to detonate on the barrel. The entire mech shuddered as a colossal fireball expanded. As the smoke and fire spread, the Hessian stumbled back.
The weapon hand lifted up, fingers spinning as if a buzzsaw!...
FWOOSH!!!!
The saw hand launched from the Hessian's arm, flying directly into Cerberus' right maw! The pride of the CEE staggered, spraying sparks as the saw cut through the corners of the wide mouth, making gears and cables fall to the ground. With a rattle of the gigantic chains, the spinning saw returned to the Hessian's arm with a clang.
Cerberus collapsed to a knee, right maw spewing hellfire! As the smoke in the cockpit cleared, Zach wiped black dust away from one of the screens. Numerous targeting devices had locked on various parts of Cerberus' body.
"Good idea." Zach sneered.
The targets arranged from the top head, right arm, left arm, and then groin. The mech's crimson eye flashed and the crimson beam launched! It struck the visor eye, cutting into the object and forming a fountain of sparks! The beam then began to cut a path of destruction that would have crippled any normal monsters...
From the head, down the chest, and to the groin! The beam cut through the weakened armor as if it were butter, showering the ground with chunks of burning steel. Cerberus' three maws released a cybernetic wail when the beam stopped... only for it to start again on the right head!
The head exploded outward with a blast, pieces of debris pinging off of the Hessian. Then the beam moved, crossing the first streak and into the left head! Cerberus's front side was caught aflame with a cross-shaped now etched into its torso...

Zach ended the assault and breathed a sigh of relief. It was over. Just like that. It was over. The Hessian was damaged, but it had seen far worse days. "Jesus Christ, you were a tough bugger." He said, as if the Cerberus could hear him.
With a staggering step, the Hessian vanished into a brilliant beam of light...
(OOC: Jesus... Thanks OR. THAT was a fun mech battle.)

Cerberus groaned as he rose to his feet, the various and sundry damages he had endured making the task of walking the last few feet to the teleport beacon seem an impossible task. However, Cerberus managed to stagger to the light and disappeared from view, only to end up in the mech hanger. As crews swarmed around, ready to repair him, the machine eased into the loading dock and began to shut himself down. After such a hard fought battle, he had earned it.
(Great fight MM. I look forward to seeing where this story goes.)
