The harmonics disruptor tore into Red Arrow's armor, but the hunter was quick to retaliate in kind. Red Arrow took to the air, rocketing only a few meters over Dartide's head as he flew past. Its long, blade tipped tendril attached to its cranium slipped around the giant machine's neck, and in moments, Ben's mech was sent toppling to the ground by Red Arrow's own weight and velocity. The lighter machine continued to drag away its opponent through the forest, scraping off NXT armor and eroding the armor plating on Darktide's back. Several trees found their way into air vents and armor openings during the rough ride.
The interdimensional mech had reached its planned destination. In moments, Darktide found itself dragged right into a large river, waist deep for the average kaiju. As the water seeped into the damaged chest of Darktide, the liquid immediately began having an unpleasant effect on the damaged, exposed circuitry it made contact with. The mech’s optics began to flash on and off, and electric currants from the circuitry sparked along the river.
With his opponent more or less stunned by the water, Red Arrow fired a burst arrow high into the air. Far above the mechanical titans, the projectile exploded into dozens of smaller arrows, which began to rain down on their target below. The lean mech itself leaped into the air, boosted by the force of the extendable limbs on his joints. Feet first, Red Arrow stomped onto the fallen Darktide’s throat, shattering the NXT coating and further warping the hull of the neck, which had been previously damaged by Robert’s very first attack. Moments later, the flurry of smaller arrows stabbed into the unprotected wires and circuitry of the damaged chest.
As the nimble hunter leaped away, Ben regained control over his mech, allowing Darktide to rise out of the river. The water damage was noticeable; Darktide’s limbs had become slightly difficult to properly control. Red Arrow fired off an explosive blast arrow, targeting its opponent’s damaged neck.

Ben was running out of options. As the damage mounted up, he desperately needed a way to equalize the fight. So, when Red Arrow's projectile came streaking towards him, Ben hit the Barrier Fields again, as the explosion washed across them, leaving his machine unscathed while he hit the trigger for the Overboost a second time. He hated using his trump cards like this, but he didn't have a lot of options left. Darktide emerged from the water and rocketed towards Red Arrow before stabbing him through the chest with the Plasma Cutter, the force of the blow driving the blade all the way up to Darktide's fist, as Ben grabbed Red Arrow by the shoulder and quickly ascended, the extra thrust of the Overboost system giving him the power needed to get both of them airborne.
But Robert wasn't going quietly, as Red Arrow slashed at the damaged facial armor, leaving more ragged wounds with his machine's claws. It was at this point, several thousand feet in the air, that Ben shoved Red Arrow off of him. He guessed that Robert might be able to make his machine survive the fall...if he was in control of it that was. As Red Arrow tumbled away, Ben fired off the MAC-3 again, striking Red Arrow between the shoulders and neck, as well as accelerating his fall to the ground below. Red Arrow crashed with a thunderous boom, which was rapidly followed by a second crash, as Darktide, aided by the Overboost system, slammed right into Red Arrow's head.
One-hundred twenty thousand plus tons of metal and circuitry slammed into Red Arrow's head, driving it into the ground and cratering the earth around them. Turnabout was only fair play, as Ben used the last of the Overboost fuel to put some distance between the two of them before Red Arrow could rise, then fired a volley of missiles and hit the cloak as he did so. Darktide shimmered and faded from view as the Hydra missiles streaked towards their target, which was still face down in the dirt...

In this vulnerable position, Red Arrow had little in the way of avoiding the Hydra missiles, allowing them to explode against the armoured chassis as it rose to its feet. It's legs spread wide, Red Arrow adopted a defensive position, its bow drawn and ready. It's movement detecting scanners located the enemy mech quickly enough, allowing Red Arrow to raise his shield as a hyper nova beam splashed against the barrier. The onslaught was abruptly cut off as the cloaked mech suddenly lost its balance. Darktide had stumbled into what appeared to be a gigantic pitfall trap, custody of Red Arrow's robotic drones that had been buzzing about the battlefield under the cover of the trees. The mech plummeted back-first into the cavity in the ground. Dozens of large metal spikes awaited him, built from the very scrap metal both mechs had lost from their hulls.
Given that the NXT coating on Darktide's back had been pulverized earlier, the hull gave away to the combined forces of Darktide's own weight and momentum. Several metal spikes stabbed into Darktide's armor, effectively shredding the armor plating on its back, as well as the back of its legs. The arms faired better, with only a few small puncture wounds. Luckily, Darktide's armor was still durable enough to prevent any of the spikes from outright impaling the mech. The worst wounds, located at the small of Darktide's back, had only made it halfway through before being stopped.
Before Ben could free his mech from his opponent's pitfall trap, Red Arrow soared into view, landing on the rim of the hole. Robert wasn't above attacking an enemy in such a vulnerable position, and the crystal blade quickly arced over his mech's head like that of a scorpion. A freezing energy beam struck home against Darktide's exposed chest region, once again causing fluctuations in the machine's arsenal. A blast arrow quickly followed through, exploding into the same area as his freezer weapon, sending brittle, frozen metal shattering from the shockwave, and further breaching the chest enough to deliver a small amount of damage to Darktide's reactors.
Red Arrow was forced to leap away as the MAC-3 fired a slug in its direction, giving Darktide enough breathing space to rocket out of the pitfall trap, dragging several metal spikes out of the pit along with it. Red Arrow was quick to follow, aiming a second blast arrow at one of the many deep holes now peppering the back of the larger mech.

Ben had had enough. As the arrow streaked towards its target, Ben rolled his machine over in the air, the projectile missing its intended mark, but hit Darktide in the left arm arm. Sparks and shrapnel fell from the sky as Ben prepared to use one of his last trump cards.
"Disengage firing limiters. We're gonna hit this bastard with everything we've got."
"Limiters disengaged. Now charging all weapons systems. Locking on to target."
Red Arrow must have know what was coming, but a volley of missiles slammed into him, keeping him busy and disoriented enough to let Ben get his one good shot in without the distraction of the cloaking shield. Darktide leveled both shoulder guns at Red Arrow, while the familiar crimson aura built up in the machine's mouth. Missile ports opened in Darktide's legs, and the hum of the Harmonics Disruptor built to a crescendo.
"All weapons charged."
"FIRE!"
The air rippled as the Harmonics Disruptor discharged, the vibrations shattering Red Arrows armor in several places, as three MAC-3 shells penetrated the alien machine's frame, while the Ion Linear Cannon ripped into another part, shredding armor and leaving molten slag in its wake. More missiles and explosions blanketed Red Arrow as the Hyper Nova cannon tore a path of destruction across Red Arrow's body. When the smoke finally cleared, and the debris finished raining down, the forest around them was largely demolished, and Red Arrow from down in the bottom of a crater, fragments of armor lying all around, while small fires and smoldering armor remained as a testament to the black mech's power.
"Cooldown sequence initiated. Reengaging limiters."
"Prep the Overdrive Cannon for firing. We might need one more shot to finish this," Ben said, as he waited to see if Red Arrow would rise...

The gargantuan stream of thermonuclear energy slammed into the fallen Red Arrow, throwing the smaller mech into the air with the immense shockwave. The beam tore apart the ground underneath, digging a deep trench of ash into the earth as it passed through. Armor melted at the sheer heat of the beam, or was blown apart by the weapon’s force. As the overdrive cannon ceased its assault, Red Arrow crashed to the ground some distance away, thick fumes of smoke rising from the mech.
But despite the damage taken, Robert was not one to wait about to be attacked again. Like the stinger of a scorpion, the crystal tipped tendril quickly shot up over the mech’s bulk, and freezing beam fired straight into Darktide’s core. The black back stumbled back as the four panels near the overdrive cannon began to freeze over. Now that it had additional time, Robert quickly drew the drawstring of his bow. A blast arrow immediately materialized into the bow, but instead of firing it, he simply let it fall harmlessly to the ground. Again, he pulled back the drawstring, and again, a blast arrow fell to the ground. Red Arrow continued this procedure as Darktide regained control over its energy weapons. Before it could fire on the smaller mech, Red Arrow darted away, soaring into the skies before diving back to the ground, its mace gauntlet raised in a Superman-like pose.
The tip of the mace slammed into the chest of Darktide. Backed up by Red Arrow’s weight and velocity, the strike was enough to cave in the already damaged area and knock Darktide to the ground, allowing the mace to blow right into the center of its chest. Metallic fingers unclenched and grasped at internal workings, ripping them free as Red Arrow’s arm pulled back. Tossing aside the circuitry it had torn out, the interdimensional mech leapt away and resumed its task of creating blast arrows.
By the time Darktide had risen, Robert seemed to have created enough arrows. As he placed his bow upon his back via a magnetic clamp, he gathered up the many explosive arrows in his left hand. The mech quickly leaped at its larger foe, sticking a blast arrow in between the elbow joint. Two more were lodged into Darktide’s chest, before Red Arrow rolled behind the mech. There, it rammed the rest of the arrows into the many holes peppering Darktide’s back, before blasting away as a plasma cutter swung towards Red Arrow’s torso. The small mech’s shoulder cannon flashed as a single bolt of plasma launched from the left cannon, striking one of the two blast arrows lodged in the chest of Ben’s mech.
The resulting explosion set off the other blast arrows in a devastating chain reaction. The two explosions in it’s chest tore shrapnel from the already large wound, while the one in the arm joint ripped the metal plating the shoulder away from the machine. Meanwhile, the back was torn asunder by a multitude of explosives, blasting armor plating in every which direction.
Stumbling back from the assault, Darktide’s left foot suddenly left solid ground. Ben’s mech was about to topple into Red Arrow’s second pitfall trap…

Fortunately for Ben, he managed to regain control of Darktide, missing the batch of explosives without ever realizing they were there, as his machine staggered to a stop. Red Arrow still stood tall, but Ben could see the alien machine was severely weakened. The multiple shots from the Harmonics Disruptor, combined with the all-out assault and the Overdrive Cannon, had left massive gaps in the machine's armor. A few more good shots should finish the job. The problem, would be lasting that long. Darktide wasn't in much better shape. However, while Red Arrow's last strikes seemed to have targeted his back, Ben wouldn't need flight to finish this. But first...
"Power fluctuations detected. Rebooting systems."
Red Arrow saw an opportunity to strike, as Ben tried to restore power to his machine. The lithe, alien robot lurched forward, much of its former grace and agility lost with the mounting damage, claws ready to strike and topple Ben over onto the pitfall trap. But as Robert closed the distance, Ben released his surprise. Three rounds from the MAC-3, fired simultaneously, slammed into Red Arrow's head from close range, the heavy impacts shredding armor and pulverizing circuitry, with the added benefit of throwing Red Arrow back. In truth, it was more like flipping the machine over, as its legs kept going forward while the torso and head slammed back to the ground.
But, for all the damage his machine had sustained, Robert still knew how to fight, as his bow rapidly appeared in his hands before loosing an explosive projectile, which struck and detonated against the MAC-3 mangling one of the barrels. Ben cursed under his breath, but knew it was necessary in order to care out his final plan.
"Main power restored. Reserves at 19%. Missile stocks depleted."
"Then let's finish this up close and personal-like."
Darktide staggered forward, Plasma Cutter extended, ready to carve what was left of Red Arrow to bits, as Robert attempted to bring his defenses to bare. What he hadn't counted on was Ben firing two more shells from the MAC-3's remaining barrels, the high speed projectiles slamming into Red Arrow's torso, widening the gaps created by previous weapons. Fire and shrapnel exploded from the wound as Red Arrow's eyes flickered and died, momentary power fluctuations preventing Robert from mounting an effective defense, as Ben plunged the Plasma Cutter into Red Arrow's abdomen, driving the blade deep before ripping it up and out, describing a smoldering path of destruction as it went.
As the blade dissipated, Darktide stood tall over his fallen foe. Even if the black machine visibly slumped from the rapidly dwindling reserves of energy, as well as the damage to the armor and super-structure, Ben was still standing, which was more than he could say for Red Arrow. Whoever won this, their mech would be needing a lot of time in the repair bays. Now, all he could do and wait to see if Red Arrow would rise...

Dr. Rudolph Ackert's distinctive voice echoed throughout the torn up battlefield. "Enough!" He stated boldly, causing both mechs to cease their furious assaults. "You both have fought brilliantly and bravely..."
Inside their respective mechs, Ben and Robert gripped their controls as they listened. Who would come out the victor? Who would go on to face the others for the Robotica Championship...
"I am many things, gentlemen. And fair is one of them. Both of you will be advancing to the final match, making it a 5-way battle! Return to your quarters and await mech repairs."
(OOC: That was an AMAZING match, guys, and I couldn't bring myself to call a winner. Thus, you are both advancing and making the Robotica Championship match a 5-way!)

Red Arrow raised a mechanical arm in triumph. Tie, win, or loss, it didn't matter to Robert. This fight had been MASSIVELY entertaining, and now his opponent would be joining him in the final round. He honestly couldn't have asked for a better outcome.
The machine slowly stepped towards Darktide, and extended its left arm. An offering for a handshake...

Ben sighed, partly in relief, partly in frustration. He had thrown everything he had at Red Arrow, and it still wasn't enough. Still, the motion of his opponent was unmistakable, and it was only proper to respond in kind, as he too extended his machine's arm. The two of them shook, a sign of mutual respect. Next time though, they would be enemies once more.
"As much as i hate to admit it, you're a damn good pilot. It was an honor, if not a pleasure to fight you," Ben said over the radio, unsure if his opponent could hear him or not.
(Great match. I'm looking forward to round two.)
