As a HUGE fan of the original series, I figured I had to post a thread for the upcoming remake. I'm rather happy that they cut the Ash character out. Nobody can play him. Just like nobody other than Englund can play Freddy (reason Nightmare remake sucked balls). Anyway, the trailer is out and kicks major ass. I'm looking forward. www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ceBXUyuv4Q0Let this put all these recent, lame ghost movies like Paranormal Activity in their place!

I never saw the first two. Only the review by James Rolfe... I did see Army of Darkness, however, and I love that movie. Scary, funny and bloody. This looks... intersting. They brought back the tree raping scene. Wheres my Beaver Rape Scene?! ..we got a tree raping scene, deal with it.
And I see a Carrie Trailer too. I like Carrie. I love to hate the mom.

I hope they keep the over-the-top, insane, horrific humor of the original films. That's what made them great. They were funny in a terrible way.

Hmph. Honestly, I'd rather have them simply make a unique movie rather than remake a solidified classic and possibly fuck it up completely, but sicne it appears it's coming anyways, here's to hoping it's as good as the others!

To be fair, there's nothing funny about the first Evil Dead. The comedy, as well as the badass Ash we all know and love, didn't come around until the second movie.

That's something I was wondering actually. Is this strictly the first? Or will the second be mixed in?

Probably a mix, seeing that they probably want to capitalize on the msot popular aspects of the franchise- the unique blend of horror and comedy.

That's something I was wondering actually. Is this strictly the first? Or will the second be mixed in? It looks to be something completely new with elements of both thrown in. The one girl has her hand possessed (something that doesn't happen to Ash until the second) and the one guy does use a chainsaw (again, chainsaw doesn't appear until ED2 also). It's taking the "rules" of Evil Dead and applying them to a new cast while telling a story similar to the first movie. I have more faith in this remake than most because the big names from the original movies are attached. Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are producers, along with Ted Raimi I believe. And I wouldn't be shocked to see Bruce appear in a cameo. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if this didn't turn out to be a "SURPRISE! THIS IS ACTUALLY A SEQUEL!" type of movie with how the beginning of the trailer starts (cabin already stained with blood, warnings all over the book's pages, etc).
