Closing his wings the bird dropped from the sky, managing to avoid the monstrous blast that tore through the heavy bank of clouds and smoke. Once below Corvous opened his wings and glided to safety on one of the few non-torched sections of the island. Looking up he saw something that didn't bode well, but for once it wasn't the titanic reptile that cound end him with a sneeze.
Coming from a tropical island himself, Corvous was familiar with the winds and how they shift, right now the heat from the flames and smoke was mixing with the cool water vapor of the raven's clouds and when the two air masses collided a real storm began to form. True lighting boomed in the clouds, the sort that Corvous was not able to control or affect. Adding to the chaos came turbulent winds and sheets of rain, the falling water gave Corvous quite a start at first, but he reminded himself that it couldn't short him out, of course this didn't help how uneasy it made him as his feathers were soaked. Perhaps the one upside was that the cool rain felt quite soothing to his many cuts, bruises and many, many burns.
Sadly he couldn't enjoy the feeling for too long as Thanatos had realized that the battle field was changing and perhaps flying in a storm with shredded wings was not the best idea. On descending the dragon spotted a perk, his foe was just sitting on a patch of sand, ripe for an attack. Bellowing out a roar the dragon dropped from the shy and lashed out with his tail, nailing the bird like a golfer and sending Corvous soaring up and into a small hill which was of course on fire.
The raven managed to brace himself and lessen the impact with his wing talons and good leg. He let out a shrill call as his body was instantly attacked by the flames, sparks flying everywhere as he leaped up and go far enough from the fire that the rain cooled down his charred body once more.
Thanatos was still on the beach, peering at the hill and taking a deep breath as he saw a dark figure begin to take flight. Opening his jaws he was about to let loose another stream of volcanic wrath when he suddenly felt a nasty pain rip down his mouth and long throat. Coughing and hacking up a small river of blood the beast narrowed his eyes on Corvous who swooped in, realizing that the raven must have sent a timed shot of lightning into his jaws to halt his flames, for the moment at least.
Not letting up the avian gained more height and let loose a lance of Nega Lighting, this bolt struck his foe in the chest, widening the already nasty wounds there. Before Thanatos could recover and send out a retort, another jolt crashed into his back, wracked with exploding scales the reptile spread his wings and took fight, racing towards the small flier head on.
Charging his body to the point it was practically glowing, Corous refused to turn away, not this time at least. Picking up the pace he charged right at the drgaon before sending a near point blank blast.

It was a game of Chicken, with a Raven! How many times would anyone see that? And with a big, bull dragon. Corvo was riding some sort of high and he was gonna fly with it and see this through. Both monsters flew at each other and just as they were about to collide, they didn't. Thanatos banked, spitting fire, and Corvo attempted to deliver his payload smack-dab in the chest of the dragon. The result was epically explosive, with Corvo getting a burn along his side and an explosion cutting a large wound across the dragons chest, over his shoulder and onto his back ever so slightly.
Both glided in a wobbly fashion from the damage.
Corvo was certainly on his A-Game despite the dragons attempt to change the all of the rules of the game with that smoke trick. That was part of one of their plans, however... Something was changing though. By chance or maybe by the UCA, this storm was no mere storm. It was a hurricane brewing up, and a frightfully nasty one at that! The already pouring rain was becoming heavier, and the wind was picking up in ferocity. The ocean below was becoming agitated with building waves.
This already deadly game just got another change in pace, and this one was in the favor of either combatants. Thanatos may have had great size, but he was of a species that rode the wind and very, VERY Well at that. His wings were catching the violent wind and causing him to flounder. Corvo was not any better. He was small and lightweight compared to most kaiju, and he was fighting to stay stable. Then came the lightning in barrages. One crack was followed by more like ordered chaos in orchestra.
A sudden gust caught the dragons wing and threw him back. Corvo was just in the wrong place and the wrong time as the massive king hit him like a oversize piece of debris. Both went tumbling down toward the ground, or water. It was difficult to say what was below and where they were gonna land. Luckily, both landed on a scrappy little island of sand. Corvo was lucky he did not get crushed under the dragons body. Thanatos landed nearby, digging in his claws to keep himself from skidding along.
By the time he looked up, he glared over toward the bird and tried to charge forward. But those big, fatass wings! The wind caught them again, making his body lift and rolling over top Corvo who tried to get out of the way. The wind saved him from being smashed over as the dragon kept rolling for a short ways. Thanatos caught ground again and attempted to charge once more, but this time it was Corvosaurus who caught the wind and used it to his advantage. The wind gave him an extra edge, allowing him to tackle the dragon over and his beak stabbing deep into Hurican's neck. Not for long, though, as both monster tumbled together in the wind and into the water. Corvo had the sense to kick off and let the wind carry him away from another unwanted bath. But Corvo now had the problem of being swept away into god knows where! Well, it was at least better then being burned alive.
Meanwhile, Thanatos lifted his head above the waves and coughing up sea water. Fighting this wind was going to be impossible, but seeing Corvo flying ever father away proved that perhaps fighting was not the answer. The dragon kicked forced himself from the water and upward, spreading his wings and catching the wind. Corvo squawked something along the lines of "You gotta be fucking kidding me" and attempted to push himself along faster, which was easy enough with all the extra push. But Thanatos also had that push too. Aerial Combat just got all the more complicated. Atop that, lightning was still flickering throughout the clouds and both were susceptible to that. A risk for both of them. Something Thanatos kept in mind...
The dragon beat his wings forward, attempt to catch up with the black bird. He closed in and as he gained nearer, he opened his jaws to snatch the bird in mid flight.

The avian put on a burst of speed and tried to avoid the attack, but his long tail was caught between the jaws of Thanatos, then with a jerk the dragon twisted his neck and sent his foe crashing down into a small crater in the glass covered sea shore. Before he could climb out of the hole, the king reptile unleashed another gout of flame, burning out the crater, turning it into a crematorium. With the area choked in ash and hissing flames, Thanatos moved over to the crater with a low growl, as he looked in he saw nothing, confused the dragon began to summon up another blast of heat, but before he could finish the now glass wall of the crater crumbled.
Out of the cubby came a burnt and shaky bird, it seemed he dug into the wall of the crater to avoid being turned to dust, though his trembling form indicated that the raw power of heat had done more then enough damage. He saw the puffed up chest of his foe and quickly sent a blast of Nega Lightning at Thanatos, striking him in his lungs and knocking the fire out of the demon's gullet forcefully. With a coughing explosion Thanatos was surrounded with his own fire, not that this was really a problem for the giant, but it was annoying nonetheless.
Struggling to build up the speed, the raven used this distraction and managed to limp into an awkward dash before leaping onto the dragon's back. He charged his talons and ripped through the armored hide of the dragon, drawing them down his foe's back to make yet another long bloody gash. Whirling around Thanatos tried to bite at the bird, but Corvous managed to wedge himself in a hard to reach spot. Then as a parting gift he shot a point blank blast right into the wound he created, widening it greatly before mini-explosions ripped into the dragon, getting a howl of pain from the lava-lord.
The giant spun his body around and threw himself backwards in hopes to crush the annoying bag of feathers. However Corvous managed to take to the air, gliding away and landing in one of the few spots on the island not engulfed in an inferno or being tore apart by the raging storm above. Calling down the dark lightning from the clouds, Corvous aimed another full powered shot right at Thanatos, sending the massive blast at the dragon...

Lucky for Thanatos he saw that one coming well ahead and ended up diving to the side and into the shallows of the ever building waves. But once he was clear of that strike, he lunged again, charging like an angry bull toward the tiny bird.
Corvo was quick however to hope and flap away, just narrowly avoiding the jaws that would have popped his head like an egg. Thanatos was not one to give up. He chased after with several more attempts to bite down on the fleeing bird, but Corvo was up in the air again with the hurricane winds pushing him away like a piece of paper in a storm.
Thanatos give pretty sick and tired of this crap. Instead of giving chase, he was going to lockdown and just keep on firing. He dug his claws into the sand and glass that had been formed and began spitting blast, after blast, after blast up after the bird. The bird was given the privilege of dodging class. They just kept coming too, one after another. Finally one struck him perfectly on the shoulder and knocked the bird from properly fly. It was a clumsy land/fall, with Corvo skidding along by his face in the sand.
He had two seconds to dodge when he lifted his head, and did, just avoiding another shot of fire. Well, this raven was not just gonna hunker-down and just be shot at. His fires crackled and came alive and he returned fire! Thanatos got a nice crack on the head with it, recoiling in irritation as blood leaked from between his massive horns.
Now it began a full out firefight. The winds were getting far too strong for any winged creature, natural or otherwise. Walking along the ground alone would risk the wings being caught in the gales and picked up, swept away. So now both Corvosaurus and Lord Hurican stationed across their little island sanctuary, firing upon each other like two forts with heavy cannon fire.
Several explosions rained across Corvo's immediate area as fire came raining down. Hot glass scorched from the sand splattered his feathers and fused into the fiber. He retaliated with a rain of black lightning that sent plumes of fiery explosions up and all around the dragon.
And both continued to fire at each other, all the while the world around them was churning up into a soup of chaos with waves growing every higher and lightning being the only light that illuminated the archipelago every other moment.

The voice boomed and... "WHHAAAAAAAT?!!?!?!?! Thanatos was not happy. If not the massive bellow of anger, then the explosion of fire around him which virtually nuked his half the island certainly showed his anger.

ooc: Ya, I thought Thanatos did more damage and such.

((OOC: It happens. And I certainly didn't expect that to happen.))
Blinking in shock, the little avian dived for the water just in time to get bombarded with a wall of steam, but thankfully the portal opened up in his path and he was blown into it, safely out of harms way.
