So for those that might have been living under a rock, Colossal Kaiju Combat is a fundraised project done by Sunstone games and Simon Strange (head developer of the Atari Godzilla console games) where fans can submit their own monsters to be in trading cards and the games themselves. If anyone is interested Kaiju-King42 got one of his monsters submitted in the game concept stages and I have a monster that is part of the original 50 trading card roster. You can share your creations on the forums if you're interested. www.kaijucombat.com/community/index.phpI know Hayes and Kingcaeser09 have accounts too, not sure on anyone else. With that said, anybody interested in giving their monsters in an official franchise?

I joined a week or so ago with the intention of submitting Suchodon and Pavoroc. But the submissions are so overrun with monsters that mostly range from, to put it bluntly, mediocre to garbage in terms of quality. That in and of itself wouldn't be much of a problem normally, but said low-quality monsters still somehow manage to generate large amounts of positive attention, while the handful of actual good monsters largely seem to get buried and receive little attention. It's very discouraging, and has left me questioning whether I should even bother going through the effort of creating and submitting the quality entries that I feel my monsters deserve.
So at the moment I'm waiting on the winners of the August Sponsorship to be announced. If the quality monsters make it through and win, that'll probably encourage me to submit my monsters.

I wonder if my monster was mediocre or garbage....
Still though, whether or not you feel that way there is one certainty: You will never know until you show them there. Plus I'd be willing to support anyone's monster if they ask.

Yeah, there are some... "odd" monsters that seem to have gathered quite a bit of attention. Maybe it's a seniority thing, maybe it's about the popularity of the user, but, really, I'm more concerned with the fact that the sponsorship process to become part of the franchise is more or less a raffle. It's all up to chance, not the quality or popularity of the monster. There are already some... "strange" monsters in the trading cards already. I mean, at least you have to be voted into the actual roster, but still. To get into that running- all you have to be is lucky. I also don't like that there's so many monsters and so much conversation that Drakia's page is constantly pushed back and buried, but that's just me being whinny and indignant. But, that aside, it'd still be super-neat to actually see Drakia is a video game, so I'm crossing my fingers anyway. She has at least one sponsor (AKA me) so there's a that.

Yeah, there's a difference between silly-cool and silly-dumb.
A potatoe/Biollante/Godzilla-monster does not fall into the first category.

Well... I am atad saddened that Crigan failed to get in, but alas, I understand. He came in way too late to really have a chance, even with the whole random draw thing. I do enjoy the kaiju we got... even if the Potato and Army Platoon make me raise an eyebrow. All in all , a very solid roster we got.

Perhaps one day Taligon, Drakia, and my monster could be in the same game and it could be called CKC: Universal Clash Edition. It'd be a nice thought.

Okay, I'm fairly happy (or at least content) with the results. There's a handful of real duds that made it in (ie: the goddamn potato), but out of 42 total picks that's not too bad. Guess I'll give it a shot after all.
Also, congrats to Hayes for Drakia making the cut!
