One word that Auroros said rung in Charybdis's ears like a haunted melody, bashing and clanging against her brain with no remorse. A single word that haunted her, and made her blood boil... Mortal. She slowly began to repeat the word, at first in her broken accent, until at last, she looked up at Auroros, her eyes once more narrowed into serpentine pupils. "Mortal, you say?" She hissed. Above them, above the ceiling of the Hub hallway they were in, a loud rumble, the sound of thunder, rang out. It seemed as though a storm had suddenly began to manifest above that particular area, and already, fierce winds were blowing above, already at a hundred miles per hour, and climbing. "Listen here, Auroros. Lady Shinki already gave you her reasons. I was there. I saw it all happen. The Maluvor are held in a vice with us Elite Guard stationed here. She has taken many precautions to ensure nothing goes wrong, so quit worrying yourself. It doesn't help the situation at all." She said, her voice no longer childish and sweet, but cold and stern, and with a sharp edge to it. "And do not mistake me for some mortal, bird. There is a very good reason It is I, and not my other two compatriots that are stationed here..."
To those who listened, it was a stark contrast to how she had sounded just moments earlier. Her eyes firm and set, she shifted her gaze up to Quetzar. "These Maluvor this... worry wart fears are creatures of untold power. They have the power to destroy, corrupt, and manipulate many things in existance. The mother of my master, Lady Shinki, once fought these three evils, and though she lost many allies, she managed to have them sealed away. They may be powerful, but there are safeguards in place to ensure they will never reach the pinnacle of power they once had. I as well as a friend of mine, are one such safeguard. There is no need to be alarmed, like I said earlier, we have the current situation under control...."

When Zekshi’s eyes peered through the dark mist to view the massive form of the chimeric hellhound, he was greeted by the sight of a slick fur coat wrapped around a lean but powerfully built body, armed with four pairs of gnashing teeth, six pairs of wicked claws, two powerful pincers, and one deadly stinger tipped tail. But the features that caught Zekshi’s attention were Fenris glowing yellow eyes and wide psychopathic grin. This creature was a powerful warrior. A warrior who reeked of corruption and sin. She was a genuine denizen of the underworld in his eyes, not some delusive, technology loving mockery of the likes of Persephone or Selstar. Fenris was primal chaos, and though Zekshi himself was hardly lawless or uncontrolled, he knew that turmoil and disorder was how the underworld was always meant to be. Fenris represented the old ways – the proper ways. And the sight of her toothy grin prompted a delighted smile from Zekshi in return.
She could prove to be a valuable ally.
Next he turned his gaze back to the boastful woman. Eyeing the sudden storm, it appeared his suspicions were correct: she was more than what she seemed. Still, of all the species they could have sent to keep an eye on him…
Zekshi pushed that thought out of his mind. He immediately picked up Charybdis’ mention of Shinki’s precautions and safeguards. If the Elite Guard were one such precaution, then what could the others be?

Fenris chuckled mirthfully as her grin was returned. Good. So the little one understood: they were of alike mind and heart. An alliance could be most useful, especially when heroes were gathering. The Hound of Death usually did not care for such precautions, but she also once had the power to roam wherever she pleased, to run and fight as she saw fit. Here, at the UCA, there was no such freedom. It was decided when she would fight and when she would run. She was kept in one, torturously monotonous plane of existence barring her own proximity dimensions- the nooks and crannies of which had long been unveiled to the wolf- and now this one, though she doubted whether she would be able to find it again without an anchor such as Zekshi alerting her to it. There was violence and bloodshed here, yes, but also a distinct lack of what the wolf valued most in the world.
Chaos.
The UCA was predictable. Its days were scheduled and, excluding the nebulous disaster or rare special match, quite mundane- they had found a way to make fights boring. It was a monstrosity, almost to the degree of what laid before her. When heroes amass, nothing good comes of it. Good beasts and their stifling notion of morals only produced two things: noise and, most dreaded of all her enemies, order. Fenris would have no such order persist in the place that she called home, boring as it was, even if that meant becoming part of a temporary order herself. So, if and when the time was proper, she would gladly ally with they dark little being at her paws. Anything to stop the tyranny of harmony.
Blinking her luminous yellow eyes, Hades's Hound found that she was better adjusting to the astral plane. While she could never utilize it as well as one of its natural foci like Zekshi, the outline of souls were beginning to become visible to her. Curiously, she turned her eyes on Quetzar- who was, she was delighted to find, oblivious to her presence. A loud growl in the back of her mind demanded that she test whether or not she could harm him from this invisible world. She pushed the thought aside- for now at least. Staring into Quetzar's bright soul, Fenris felt herself grow disgusted. Hatred, hard and cold, bloomed in her stomach like ice. So pure. So brilliant. Probably more shining than it had been before. The chimera snarled quietly to herself. It was idiotic. It was boring. She looked closer. Yellow eyes narrowed. Was that...? Could it be...?
The hound gave a triumphant grin. Yes, it was- a smudge of darkness in the serpent's spirit, right over his heart. A seed of destruction hidden in the core of supposed guardian.
Fenris cackled. Perhaps this change in the wyrm was for the better after all.
---
Powerful agents of darkness here and you claim to have things 'under control?' Quetzar snapped, his scales and feathers rising like hackles. The serpent's eyes narrowed into ferocious slits. That is dangerous arrogance you hold in your heart, girl. Such vanity only leads to disaster, especially when it involves the containment of the wicked.
The head of the hero reared high and hiseyes glowered down at Charbydis. I apologize, but I simply cannot bring myself to trust the world of someone so at ease when it comes to such high stakes. Precautions only persist in the presence of caution, and you have obviously let caution languish and die within you.

Isaarker, confused to no end at first, narrowed his purple eyes as he paid attention to what was going on. The warrior brought a finger to his face thoughtfully.
"I am of a mind with the sun serpent. It is always better to prevent rather than heal."
The masked being swept his gaze across the present creatures, before he continued.
"Of course, I will not stand idly by if threats are near. You can count on me if you need my help. My Master would want me to look into it if I can."

Charybdis's eyes looked at the bear, the reptilian slints still present as she hissed in begrudging acknowledgment. "I know what you say is right... but I do not question Lord Shinki's orders. She allowed the Maluvor to be here for a reason, and to keep them contained, we were sent here. While I myself believe that the Maluvor being here are not required, it is not my place to defy orders given me by higher ups. But please rest assured, when I say we have precautions in place, I really do mean I-"
"I wish it was as easy as you said, Charybdis."
The girl's eyes widened, and she turned back. Approaching her through the crowd of monsters was Proteus and Crigan. Charybdis let out a squeal, and leapt at Crigan, her arms wrapping around him as she floored him with a "GLOMP" "CRIGAN! I cen't bahliev yeh heah! A'h sao glad de see ya!" She cheered, having broken back into her dialect, the sounds of bones cracking and being turned to dust, all as Proteus just stood there and snickered.
"Back... breaking again... Let go... Charybdis" Crigan gasped. Charybdis let go, and Crigan stood, his back once more in a U-shape. He grunted as he reformed his bones from his internal energy inside of him. "I am glad to see you as well, Charybdis, but as Auroros here was saying... your master has made a grave mistake. Letting loose those monsters here is a recipe for disaster. And tell me, what would happen if someone was crazy enough to ally themselves with the Maluvor? Then we would be in for an eternal nightmare. Did that ever cross your mind?"
Charybdis was silent, her eyes twisting back to normal. Someone... ally with the Maluvor? That was preposterous! No one was crazy enough to ally with those madmen! But... just no... that simply couldn't happen! Why was it that one of her oldest friends had to be against her on this issue... she wanted a supporter, not an enemy...

"The evils of this realm run deep, and are far too willing to destroy, in many cases," Auroros snarled in reply, his voice angry yet subdued. "I feared ever since I arrived here that an arena, revolving around death and carnage would draw less than savory creatures to its banner.... Armageddon was merely the beginning of our problems." Auroros shook his head. "With the World Eater's demise, the void has been filled by many whom seek to take his reins.... and those whom seek that power will inevitably find themselves allied to those with power, and who among their thralls has more power than the Maluvor?"
Auroros turned to Charybdis. "Your master is blind to the realities of this dimension, and she has doomed hundreds, if not thousands, to a fate worse than death, solely due to her own quest for revenge! But there is STILL time to right this wrong... the Maluvor are still weak, and vulnerable... what we must do is take out the one who summoned them, and quickly, before things get out of hand."
In the back of Crigan's mind, a voice spoke to him. "I called for you when I was in need.... yet you did not respond. Why? Why did you not aid me?"

Within the Astral Plane, Zekshi could not only hear the physical voices of the group of beings; he could read the state of their emotions as well. While he could not hear exactly what it was Auroros was saying to the newly arrived "death god", he could practically feel the bird's soul give a small twinge of betrayal. He peered deeper into its glistening, pure surface, until the story became as clear as written words to him. The death god, Crigan, had failed to heed a cry for assistance.
A smokey tendril of nether, insensible to all but those on the Astral Plane, swept through the dark mist like a flying serpent. Auroros' soul seemed to almost darken as the nethereal tendril coiled around its pristine surface like a python, and as it squeezed, the gnawing feeling of betrayal in Auroros' heart increased threefold...

Crigan let out a silent hiss as he sensed it. Darkness was within Auroros... a foreign evil that was within him, twisting his nature. He would need to choose his words wisely in this case. He didn't want to further Auroros's anger. "I am sorry I was not there." Crigan said, one eye on the silent, yet glaring figure of Charybdis. "I was recovering from my death at the hands of Orsa. On my way back to the UCA, I was cornered by Yuuka, who unleashed an evil I never thought I would have encountered upon me. Me, Mara, and my son Diamen," Here, he gestured over to Diamen, who walked forward, and bowed before the heavenly bird.
"We were slaughtered, crippled, and left at the brink of death by Salavance the Golden. Why we were spared, I do not know, but I have only within the last hour awoken from my unconscious state. Again, I apologise I wasn't able to come to your aid, to stop this madness before it began, but I was incapable of doing so... I have failed you, Auroros... I have failed us all." Was what he said, his head hung in shame. Diamen beside him didn't say anything. but looked away as well... the figure he had once hated as a prideful fool, humbling himself before another....

The blazing eyes of Quetzar softened as Charybdis spoke. After shooting a surprise blast of sparks and then dipping his head in happy acknowledgement of Crigan- he had always known that such a courageous soul could not have been extinguished by a base beast like Orsa- the serpent grew somber and spoke to the girl again, his psychic voice much quieter this time. Obedience should draw its longevity from good sense, child. Do not let flawed orders outrank your own good thoughts, especially in matters as grave as this one. Sometimes... sometimes treason can be the least of the sins you can commit.
The Sun Warrior's fanged head craned towards Crigan. His fanged jawline was contorted in concern. Salavance? The eyes of the serpent flared. Another threat beyond these Maluvor?

Auroros could feel the darkness welling up within himself as well. He fought it off as best he could, though his anger and internal turmoil made him unable to fight it as sufficiently, so he expressed his discontent more so than before.
"Yes... yes you have," Auroros replied angrily, before suddenly grabbing control of himself. "But, there is still time to rectify this, so you will have your chance to redeem yourself. I shall as well, for failing to keep that stupid fool Shinki and the villains Selstar and Yukari from awakening this evil..."
Auroros ignored Charybdis, the bird considering her arrogance not worth his time. If she wanted to delude herself with lies, so be it; he would rather talk with logical beings. He also made no mention as to who Salavance was, for he too had not heard of such a creature, even in all his years as a guardian of Emmanuel's realm.
Finally Auroros spoke out loud, after a period of silence. "I too, have not heard of this "Salavance" you speak of. Tell me, Crigan- what is this new threat we must destroy?"

Crigan's head hung as low as he could have it, even as he transformed into his monstrous form. Something caught Auroros's eyes, something on Crigan's face... it was his golden mask. Another part of it had been chipped off, a large part at that. "I am not surprised. The Yama kept this creature's existence a secret, and placed blame on most of its destruction on Asmodeus. Salavance... is a nightmare that plagued the realm I came from, as well as those the Enma oversaw. They say it came to be from the power vaccume left behind after Asmodeus defeated Satan, but no one knows for sure. It came from nowhere, and destroyed everything. Entire worlds, and even galaxies were turned into wastelands of Dark Energy. The Enma tried to restrain it, to stop it, but they were powerless to do so... and then, it came to the realm I called home."
Crigan turned his face away, as he retold what he had told Diamen earlier. "So many things died those days. 95% of the life I once knew and cherished... was reduced to corpses. Entire worlds drained and sapped of life. Everything I cherished, everything I loved... ripped and yanked away from me. I lost so many friends that day, friends I will never see again. As a last attempt, I nearly sacrified myself to ensure Salavance the Golden would never again claim another life... butit turns out, that my attempt to stop it, which also left me at death's doorstep, failed to stop the monster, and now it is here. It is a shapeshifter by nature, and can take whatever form it so desires, but normally, it is a golden lizard with three tails and arm wings."
Crigan shook his head, and let out a long, painful sigh. One could see it, the pain and sadness in his eyes as he tried to keep the painful memories back, the screams and desolation at the hands of that dragon. Whatever plan Yuuka had up her sleeve regarding it, Crigan HAD to stop it, no matter what. "As for Shinki, I will go talk with her, and see if I can force her to reconsider. She is... more open to me than with most. Dealing with my worst nightmare is one thing... dealing with a night terror composed of the worst entities the cosmos have ever seen is too much."
Watching this little group assembling was a figure shrouded in darkness, hanging from the ceiling by their clawed feet and hands. A hiss escaped the maw of the figure as it eavesdropped on the conversation, perking up when it heard its own name mentioned. It had wondered why Yuuka had sent it out to spy on this Quetzar fellow at this time, but this was definitely interesting to hear....

A world killer? Quetzar's red eyes had narrowed into burning slits and flames curled in the back of his throat. The scales of the serpent stood stiff like jagged spines and let out heat like jet burners. A hot current of air soon encircled the hero like chains. It must be destroyed with all haste then. We cannot allow any more lives to be lost after what occurred with Orsa.
The alien wyrm shook his head sadly. So many lost... so many lives extinguished...
--
Fenris sniffed the air curiously and stared up at Salavance through the inky veil of the astral plane. Though hidden from the heroes that he observed, the golden reptile had attracted the attention of the Bitch Queen almost immediately. She could feel the pure venom of his soul stinging her flesh like fire. The jaws of the wolf smacked curiously and her watching eyes narrowed. Another dark being, one here to observe the Sun Warrior it seemed. Interesting. The devil dog grinned, a long row of bone white teeth splitting her scarred head.
Whatever she though of the benevolent entity, he did seem to have a habit of attracting the most delightful company.

Zekshi too, sensed the presence of a new arrival, but it wasn't Salavance that had perked his interest. Within the shrouds of the astral plane, he was capable of seeing things invisible to the mortal plane. The souls that inhabited each and every being was merely a single strand in an entire web of possibilities. Here, for example, he could admire the beautiful essence of nether in its true form: as a spiritual element normally unnoticeable by mortals, existing anywhere and everywhere that destruction had the potential to occur. The inky, dark mists that inhabited every inch of the mysterious plane was in fact nether itself. The astral plane was also the home of countless spirits; undead or otherwise. But for all its possibilities, still a certain presence alluded Zekshi's watchful eyes.
He could feel it. A small, rotten taint that gripped his senses. And he was sure he wasn't the only one that sensed its familiar presence.
It was the menace lurked the path of life. The father of despair. The tool of tyranny. The enemy of progress. It had stifled more ambitions, darkened more hopes, shattered more ideals, and prevented more accomplishments than history could record.
Among the gathered beings, seen by none and felt by all, was fear.

Seeker had remained silent at this point, but after listening to the various pronouncements of doom, he had a question to ask. "Is there a possibility of an alliance by these forces?"

"I fear an alliance of sorts would be all too likely, young one," Auroros stated, his words resting heavy upon the chests of the others within the room. "Evil is drawn to each other like a swarm of locusts. When they feel the time is right, they unite and cause widespread ruin across the lands..."
Auroros glanced to Quetzar, then stared a long while at Crigan, his milky white eyes narrowing briefly before speaking once more. "And to combat this evil, we too must unite. Perhaps we can stifle it before it spreads...."
