Curiosity finally overcame her. The Emissary had learned all that she could about this mysterious and seemingly malevolent being that had entered the UCA. She knew of the other evils that lurked- the evils of the Maluvor was sensible even to her, with her meager Aether powers. Yuuka and her newest evil seemed to be a great threat as well, but one she had to brave in order to learn the truth; but this evil... he was elusive, hard to pinpoint, and seemingly inactive. It was most disconcerting- how could such an evil be so inert? She was surprised that the Man in Black had stayed so well into the shadows... it was as if he was more ghost than man. She didn't want to admit it, but perhaps Yuuka was telling the truth- perhaps this "Man in Black" was more than he seemed to be...
The Emissary soon reached her destination- a lonely area of the hub, almost as if it had been mostly abandoned by the UCA. But she knew that it was far from being abandoned- she had seen the man, clad in his black robe, enter and exit this wing of the hub, probably to work whatever necromantic arts he did in secret. The Emissary lifted her hand up, as a magic orb floated out from the sleeve of her robe and illuminated the area. Rats and insects scattered from the light, showing that this area was very old and dilapidated compared the rest of the very sleek and high-tech hub. Cobwebs covered the ceiling, walls, and seating areas here, with some doors looking like they had not been touched in years. Some of the seats were rusted, and probably had not been replaced since they were initially put down, leading the Emissary to believe that she may have wandered into one of the original hangars of the hub, and probably one that hadn't been used since some of its older members were removed....
At the end of the old, decayed hallway, she came across a small door, bolted shut from the inside. Strange, considering most of the others doors were in less-than-working condition. This must be the place I'm looking for, The Emissary thought to herself. She placed a single hand on the door, and closed her eyes. Her robe began to blow around, as her body began to glow from an internal source of magic. Suddenly, The Emissary phased through the door and appeared on the other side, inside of the seemingly empty building.
It was shockingly dark in the room- it was almost as if nothing was inside. Summoning her orb of light once more, The Emissary soon noted that it was merely the trickery of the darkness obscuring such things. Strange vials and tomes could be seen resting on the many tables in the room and in some of the bookshelves scattered haphazardly around the building. There were no chairs to speak of, which was somewhat odd. She would have expected the UCA to have administered some furniture at least to him if he had been called here. But perhaps he wasn't brought in by the UCA's own volition- which was the sinking feeling the Emissary was beginning the have...
Suddenly, she heard a loud noise from an upper story. Startled, she quickly dimmed the orb and hid under one of the tables. She heard footsteps walking around, which prompted her to crouch down and begin to crawl slowly around the room, hoping to reach a door near her side of the room and find out what was inside. Thankfully, the footsteps seemed to have gone quiet- perhaps due to their owner having sat down or something- so the Emissary stood back up and quickly shuffled over to the door, pushing it open and closing it behind her to avoid any detection.
What she stumbled across shocked her- it was some kind of massive shrine, crafted of bones and from the flesh of creatures! It was both repulsing, and intriguing- the Emissary wanted to avert her gaze, the avoid looking at this most hideous display, but was hypnotized by its barbaric style and simplistic design. Finally overcoming her paralysis of wonderment and fear, the Emissary spotted a bookshelf in the low light of the room and quickly shuffled over to it, being careful to not make any noise in order to prevent whoever lay upstairs from noticing her. She soon found a strange book that seemed important. She could not read the cover, as it was written in a strange language she had not even seen before, but it was bound by large metal clamps- presumably to keep nosy people such as herself from snooping around and simply opening it up. But she was no mere person- she was gifted with the power of Emmanuel, and such a bind was nothing to her. With a flick of her wrist and a small burst of light, the clamps were sliced in half and dropped to the floor, allowing her to open and read what lay inside.
She soon found that she could not read much that lay inside the dusty old book either, though she did find a few key words that she understood- "Yzazil" was one in particular that stood out, as this was the name of the God of Judgment, an ally of sorts to her god, Emmanuel. "Necrosis" was another that she managed to read. She had heard of the ancient Necrotic arts, a dark form of magic born from the power of the Nether. It manipulated the powers of rot and decay, and as such was seen a mockery of white magic, or healing magic. While she was not sure what this meant until she stumbled across a couple more words that tipped her off- "Invado" and "Gurzenboro". She remembered that "Invado" was a Latin term for "usurp", and Gurzenboro was the last great Archdemon of a clan of an ancient type of demon. She was not sure why it was tossed in here when the rest of the text was near-unintelligible, but it gave her a crucial clue- this text was referring to the day that Archdemon Gurzenboro attacked Yzazil on his home turf! But who would remember such a moment of history other than?-
The Emissary paused in horror. No, that couldn't be true. What was HE doing here?
Suddenly from behind, she heard a laugh. "My my, what do we have here? A servant of Auroros? What a present we have here..."
The Emissary turned, her hands engulfed in light. Behind her, stood a hunched, robed form. Was this the man she so sought? Was he so much more than met the eyes?
"You!" The Emissary shouted, hiding her fear. "I know who you are now!"
"Hahahaha, I'm afraid you have the wrong person, dearie," the robed being mocked, as the robed exploded outwards, revealing a hideous, ghost-like beast, chains wrapped around its wrists. "I am merely a servant of the being you fools refer to as "Ommadon". Now.... time for you to die!"
The massive beast launched a powerful beam of frosty air at the Emissary, forcing her to summon a barrier of light. The attack was simply too powerful, however, and her barrier was shattered, sending her flying head-first into a wall. Blood ran down from her temple, and the last thing she saw and heard before knocking out was the massive beast looming her, laughing before saying, "No... my master would have a better use for you alive than dead..."
