On the other side of Persephone's living quarters stood the cloaked figure of Kadru, standing with her back pressed to the door almost casually, though she was more alert than ever before. Her watchful eyes scanned the halls for the arrival of any of Persephone's minions, and her ears, pressed against the door, worked to get in every word of the conversation on the other side.
The walls of her living quarters were thick, and the steel of the UCA was usually enough to ensure privacy from most normal organisms, but the designers had not factored in the enhanced senses of an Ophorus. Kadru could hear with amazing clarity through great distances, and through ages of meditation it was not hard for her to focus these powerful senses, to filter out unwanted sounds and home in on Persephone's conversation.
And what she heard had her worried.
Project Titan... so she was making a super soldier through a compound of nethereal forces, and the blood of her elite guard and the False God of the Ocean, Leviathan himself. She knew little of the mermaid, but the combination of nether and the blood of the serpent was already more than enough to worry her. Leviathan was a pure aethereal being. Such a compound would, with any luck blow up in Persephone's face, or it would create an monster of an entirely new sort. Aether and nether in one body... she had only witnessed one such begin before in her long life.
And what of the Devil Machine? Kadru remembered only too well Selstar's machine, Abaddon. That too, had been made of agronium. He had already spilled the secrets of her people to Persephone's corrupt forces. What other abominations would be made of them?
When she heard the teleportation pad inside activate, Kadru allowed herself a moment of relaxation. She would be competing in a match for a while now, and it would be child's play to keep an eye on her just by watching the screens housed all around the hub of the UCA. She strode off down the hall, heading for the nearest cafeteria to observe the match. And what was more, she now knew where Persephone lived.
The Queen's time was coming to an end.
