I'm not very good at intros, but I'll try and do my best.
This is a little idea someone (who might have been me, actually; my memory is blurry) suggested on AIM - monsters may be unique individually, but everything, as one could notice, has a recurring theme. For example, Hayes likes monster grins and Gira likes himself some demons. I'm known to have "beeg and stronk" monsters.
What this thread is for is to look over your characters and find your recurring themes - your monster-making habits, your averages.
Another fun little idea - perhaps you could pick the averages and make a monster that is the embodiment of this. I'd likely have a spiked, martial artsy hugger brute that'd stand around 120-130 meters tall and have elemental powers. Oh wait... that's Kit and cubs right there. lol
I'll begin.
The Average OBB Monster
One of the first things to notice about my monsters, more obvious when looking at my drawings, is that they look pretty burly, often with huge arms/limbs and smaller heads. And yes, they do tend to look bear-like. I wonder why? lol
They always look rugged, be it because of their scales, spikes or rough fur. More often than not, that'll be a combination of those. Despite their brutish appearances, my monsters are almost always super nice and cuddly, but behold, the "beware the nice ones!" trope stands very true in their case!
Average Size: Tend to be pretty beeg. Often around the 115-130 meters range in height, and weight varies, but it's mostly between 80, 000 and 120, 000 tons.
Average Alignment: Heroic. My burrs are mostly inclined towards peace rather than violence - they love to fight, but they only do when forced or to defend their home. There is more to life than fighting, for them. Even the baddie in my UCA roster, Dusmus, (who is retired now, but I'll bring him back eventually) isn't completely evil. He is really just acting out of loyalty for his beloved creators.
Average Appearance: As I wrote above, they look pretty burly. Huge arms/limbs and smaller head. Very rugged-looking and vaguely bear-like. Their ruggedness is either expressed by spikes, rough fur or sharp, raised scales.
Average Personality: I've been told that my monsters are so nice that they could literally star in a children's show. Despite their brutish designs, they are often super cuddly (yes, you too, Korr). They all have "elemental personalities," for example, Yakura being laidback, but cold, or Korr being stubborn as a rock.
Average Powers: Stronkness. And yes, I happen to enjoy Avatar: The Last Airbender (I looove martial arts and elemental powers, and ATLA brings the two together beautifully) and it reflects in my characters. My Beasts all have elemental powers, but most of them are still physically tough and skilled in melee combat.
In short: Beeg, stronk, huggy, rugged-looking, about 120ish meters tall and 100, 000 tons heavy, has elemental powers, skilled in melee, and is either neutral or flat-out heroic.
What about you?
