Cerulean backpeddaled in surprise. Hera was far more resilient than she had anticipated, which she was now paying the price for as talons raked through the flesh on her face, leaving another set of bloody wounds as Hera pressed the assault, driving the two of them deeper into the city. It seemed likenothing she did could put down this raging demon of a dragon.
But Cerulean had not survived the Xar'Dek and their minions to succumb to something like she. She had fought, survived and prevailed countless times before, and she would do so again. As Hera lunged forward to make another swipe, Cerulean twisted around, taking up a flanking position on Hera as she fired her freezer beam at the monster's side. Ice coated Hera's flank and dug into her skin, slowing her down some, before not stopping her.
But Cerulean wasn't counting on a meer coating of ice to stop Hera, as she mentally drove those same frozen patches into Hera's side, the sheer force of it smashing Hera through a small office building. With her opponent temporarily downed, Cerulean took to the skies and concentrated. She would end this now. The streets beneath her rattled and buckle as she began pulling water from all the pipes within reach out of the ground, forming them into a barrier around her body, like a rotating ice field. Hera shook her head to clear the cobwebs from her vision, and when she realized what Cerulean was doing, she took aim and fired off more fireballs.
But Cerulean deftly blocked each strike with her ice field as more and more crystals formed around her, increasing in size and density as she went. Hera snarled in fury and took to the air. If this other dragon wanted to play defense, then she would plow right through it and destroy her.
Big mistake.
As Hera winged her way forward, Cerulean leveled all the ice crystals at her foe, and released them all at once. Hera managed to avoid the first, but the second one hit home, striking the squamata in the gut and driving her back into another skyscraper, as another and another and another struck her again and again in the gut, driving her back further into the structure until, after what seemed like an eternity, Cerulean finally ceased, having exhausted her supply of ice.
There was a massive hole in the side of the monolithic structure, and pressed deep inside it was Hera. Blood and thawing water leaked from within, and Cerulean could just hear Hera's ragged breathing. She landed opposite the hole, panting from exertion. Hera was probably still alive, she knew that much. If she wasn't, the UCA would be vaporizing her right about now. With that in mind, she took aim with her freezer beam, hoping to seal Hera within her tomb on concrete and steel...
