As the spear of rainbow light streaked down through the ash-darkened skies, four pairs of evil yellow eyes snapped open and an already short temper shattered. A split second before the great column of multi-hued brilliance struck, a dark shape flicking with flames and licked by shadows shot out from the crater, a piercing howl briefly ringing out before the deafening thunderclap of an explosion swallowed it up. Delivering the full might of a asteroid impact into the empty crater, the rainbow beam erupted in a billow of colorful flames, digging deeper into the pourous stone and throwing smoke and debris everywhere. To a lesser creature, it would seem Fenris was engulfed by the blast. But Pavoroc's keen eyes told him otherwise. Snorting in annoyance, the winged defender tucked in his wings and dove, dropping towards the spot he knew the Hellhound Queen would be. But as smoke and dust was swept away, he was shocked to see Fenris glaring up at him, hellfire already gathering all three jaws.
The devil dog was absolutely furious, more so than she had ever been in her life. And that was really saying something. Pavoroc had just dealt her the greatest shame, the most stinging insult, that could be shoved upon a demon of her caliber. And it wasn't the pain. Yes, her body still screamed in agony from her plunge, but she could take pain. She could take agony, she could take all but the most severe forms of torment. No, it hadn't been the pain, it had been the fear.
Pavoroc had made her feel fear.
It was a totally alien feeling, as unwelcome as it was revolutionary. To be afraid was to be weak. And she, Fenris, ruler of the fiery plains and burning pools, WAS NOT WEAK. Eyes hardened by the most intense hatred possible for a living being to summon, the Hound of Death nurtured a trio of hellfire beams in her maws, the hellish blaze fueled by incredible rage. If one looked close enough, they would notice that Fenris's form faded a bit at the edges, trailing into flowing strands of darkness, and that sparks flared to life as her pelt ruffled. So great was her anger, she was actively stopping herself from being possessed by the spirit if her innermost evil, her ultimate damnation. That she would save for later. But a certain bird still needed to taste her full wrath.
Seeing the massive danger to his well-being glowering up at him from below, Pavoroc punched out his wings, catching himself mid-dive. Best not to get too close to the berserk beast right now. Unfortunately for the noble flier, Fenris planned to bring him to her. As she locked gaze with the champion, a harsh yellow light burst from her eyes. Pavoroc suddenly felt a rush if unnatural fear, going completely limp in her terror. As he dropped, he realized the fear was not his own, instead forced into to him by the flash from Fenris's eyes. Even as he plummeted, the proud bird cried out in indignance, much like Fenris before him. But freefalling towards a hellbeast that wanted him plucked and roasted, he could do little to avenge his damaged ego. As Pavoroc fell, Fenris loosed the fiery power locked in her fangs, three hellfire beams leaping up to converge on the feathered giant...
A vast fireball engulfed the bird!
Bruised, burnt, and smeared with blood, Pavoroc dropped from the thick smoke like a rock. A particularly battered rock. A wicked grin splitting her canine muzzle, Fenris pounced up, jaws swinging open and glowing with heat. Sinking her fangs- which blazed with crimson flames- into the bird's thigh, Death's Bride caught Pavoroc much like a dog would a frisbee. Landing neatly on all fours, the devil dog savaged the guardian, shaking his limp body viciously. Before long, something gave way- Pavoroc. With a horrible, wet ripping sound, the great flier was hurled away, a good chunk of his flesh still in Fenris's jaws. Shredding the bleeding meat between her jagged teeth, the chimera threw the ragged flesh down her throat, gore dribbling messily down her jawline. Swallowing with a disgusting flourish, the twitsted bitch sprang at Pavoroc again.
But this time, the bird was ready.
Rearing up and throwing his wings open, Pavoroc sent out a barrage of lightning with a fierce cry. Fenris yelped as a wall of electrical bolts snapped into her body all at once, the jolt nearly stopping her dead. But the reaper of death powered through it, stretching out a paw that was being coated by inky darkness. Swing out with her claws, the multi-headed terror slashed Pavoroc's chest open, unleashing a hot flow of blood. An arc of shadows lashed out as well, cutting even deeper into the bird's flesh and loosing more blood. Plumage thoroughly soaked by his own crimson life essence, Pavoroc falls back with a pained gasp. Voices of revenge and bloodlust screaming in her brain, Fenris cracked open her wolf jaws, a molten orb gathering within her fangs and ready to leap out and detonate against tender flesh...

The fireball launches forth a moment later, detonating against Pavoroc’s chest. Seeking to press her advantage, Fenris pounces again, intent on sinking her teeth into the bird’s flesh. Pavoroc has no intentions of letting that happen again, though, and catches the two dragon heads by their throats, sinking his talons deep into the flesh. Fenris’ central head yawns forward, threatening to take another chunk out of the guardian... only to have a Rainbow beam fired straight into her gaping maw. The hellhound is blasted off Pavoroc by the point-blank shot, crashing down hard on the ground with her mouth smoking and blood dripping from the fresh gashes torn by Pavoroc’s talons as she was ripped from his clutches.
Both monsters quickly get to their feet, Fenris shaking her middle head to clear the cobwebs and Pavoroc taking off with a flap of his wings. Fenris whips all four heads to glare up at the guardian, hatred plastered all over her snarling faces. Pavoroc, meanwhile, chuckles.
“It always amuses me how you evil creatures react to fear. You love causing it in others, but when you finally experience it yourselves you always, always lose your composure. There’s a very specific sequence of emotions you go through, too.” He pauses for a moment to dodge a pair of Hellfire blasts from Fenris. “First is the initial fear itself. That primal, wide-eyed look is always exactly the same.” He rolls away from a Hellfire beam. “Next comes the confusion over what you just felt. That passes quickly.” He “jumps” over another beam with a flap of his wings. “Once you realize it was fear, you get angry. Not just the regular anger that you’re usually full of, though. No, it’s different. It’s complete rage. Absolute, utter hatred over the fact that you’ve just experienced that emotion you so love inflicting upon others.” He throws his head back and lets out a true laugh, a sound not unlike a seagull’s cackle. “I love it!”
Fenris unleashes a furious howl, whether through frustration at her target’s elusiveness, his taunting, or both, and fires a pair of Hellfire beams from her dragon heads. This time, Pavoroc does not dodge. Instead, he simply spreads his wings and allows the beams to strike him dead-on. However, instead of exploding, the beams scatter into small streams that begin swirling around his body. As they orbit, the streams change from their normal coloration to pure white. Pavoroc returns his gaze to Fenris, his yellow eyes narrowed.
“Play time is over.”
The streams of energy coalesce in the center of his chest before launching forth in the form of a huge white beam. Too stunned by what just happened, Fenris is unable to avoid the attack and gets blasted by a power equivalent to four of her own Hellfire beams. Thrown through the air by the attack, Fenris slams against a large rock outcropping. As the hellhound slumps to the ground, Pavoroc fires off a volley of wing lightning at her.

The barrage of electric bolts hit Fenris hard, the chimera going stiff as they coursed painfully through her being. Fur smoking from every spot a bolt had struck, the demonic hound collapsed, landing flat on her belly. Evil yellow eyes becoming misty and unfocused, Death's Bride let her bristling brows fall shut over her glowing orbs. The eyes on her reptilian heads did the same. With a cock of his head, Pavoroc soared a bit closer, careful to remain wary. Was the beast done already? Fenris answered his question by cracking open all her eyes again, body slowly rising. Standing on shaky paws, the mix-and-match horror gazed square at Pavoroc. But the stare was not of hatred or anger, much to the bird's surprise. It was of... interest, thoughtfulness even.
To any average run-of-the-mill creature, it would seem obvious that Fenris would loath Pavoroc. Yet she didn't, not really. No, she liked the feathered giant in her own twisted way. He was powerful, he had a sharp bite to his words, and his flesh had the most divine flavor, like the heat of battle and the coldness of war had courted. He was no peaceful guardian, he was a warrior! He was a creature born to fight and kill, and Fenris considered herself the same. But while she was truly free, able to do anything she wanted, he chose to use his power to protect those who don't deserve protection, bound by his own morals and values. That was where they differed, and there alone. They were both born as warriors, as killers, yet he was imprisoned by the illusion of justice, something only the foolish and blind believe in. Life was cruel and hard, and simply couldn't be changed. To try and bring 'justice' was a waste and a travesty. There was only you and what you could tear away from the cold hands of life yourself. Fenris was the core of this truth, an embodiment of the best a creature could be. Pavoroc was severely misguided, but had potential. He could be saved, he could be shown the truth! He'd just have to have it spelled out to him in blood. Limbs becoming firm and solid in stance, Fenris gave Pavoroc a grin, the most sincere smile she had summoned in eons. The toothy smile split the hound's head in two, and unnerved Pavoroc despite his endless courage vast and experience. Thinking back to the bird's last statement to her, Fenris somehow grinned even wider. Pavoroc was convinced her face would tear clean off her skull. To his shock and disgust, it seemed to becoming true, the devil's flesh becoming dark and undefined. At the same time, her pelt began to smoulder and burn, swiftly birthing into flames. Play time was over? Body becoming a phantom of fire and darkness, Fenris opened her inky jaws and hacked out her own savage string of laughter. No, she couldn't disagree more.
Play time was just beginning!
With a final pulse of demonic energy that leveled the rock cropping she had collided with, Fenris merged with her brutal powers and pounced at Pavoroc. Shifting, shapeless body becoming a hellish comet as she lunged at the avian defender, the Hound of Death punched out a paw. Pavoroc tried to avoid the lashing forelimb, but it stretched forward with unnatural speed, practically becoming a lance of shadows as it harpooned into his gut. Doubling over with a low moan and vomiting up gore, the winged champion dropped into the ground. Before he could make another move, Fenris was on him! Jaws unhinging and mashing together in one great maw, the bitch queen chomped down on the upper portion of Pavoroc's body. The bird wailed in utter agony as his flesh was shredded by a billion shadowy teeth, plumage becoming a mess of blood and loose tissue. In his panic, the hero fired off a rainbow ray, spearing Fenris's writhing shape. Although the technicolor beam passed harmless through the chimeric horror, it dispersed her enough to let him rip free from her grasps. But not for very long though. As Pavoroc stumbled away, torso completely covered in a hot crimson coat, Fenris leapt upon him again. This time, her sinister being unwound, looping around the bird like an evil serpent. The Hellhound Queen wrapped tightly around Pavoroc- making sure he was securely in her coils- and then tore herself from around him. Blood exploded from the great avian! Fenris's fleeing form had cut into his body like blades, slashing deep into his back, hindquarters, and shoulders. Gasping in pain, Pavoroc flopped weakly forward, simply falling on his face. Standing a ways off, Fenris watched with sadistic satisfaction. Although her sick grin never faded, her demonic form did, flames dying and shape becoming solid. After a moment, Fenris was nothing but flesh and blood again.
Despite her triumphant smile, Fenris winced in pain as she took a step forward. Maintaining that shape took immense energy, seriously draining her. The devil dog tried to lunge at Pavoroc again, but she staggered mid-stride, nearly toppling in her stumbling. And Pavoroc was beginning to stir, body and mind recovering from the mauling he had just taken. Her own body unable to handle major stress right now, Fenris settled for a hellfire beam, launching the column of might from her canine jaws...

Just as Pavoroc is getting to his feet, he’s sent to the ground again by the Hellfire beam. Too spent at the moment to attack any more, Fenris watches as the guardian slowly rises again. He stumbles and nearly falls over, but manages to keep his feet under himself. He shakes his head, clearing the cobwebs, before standing up to his full height and folding his wings neatly at his sides, the calm and collected stance clashing totally with his otherwise mangled appearance.
The two monsters stare at each other for several moments, completely unmoving. A hot wind blows past them, gently ruffling fur and feather alike. Then, Pavoroc chuckles again.
“Well, it would seem we’ve both been keeping some things hidden from each other. I wonder if you have any other tricks up your sleeve. I know I do. This, for example!”
Pavoroc suddenly leans forward, his train lifting up behind him and fanning out. The “eyes” on the feathers begin to glow different colors, some orange, some blue, some indigo, some red, some yellow, some green, some violet. An instant later, they begin rapidly firing large spheres of energy, the color of each one corresponding to the glow of the “eye” from which it came. Many spheres miss, flying past her and detonating harmlessly in the background, but many more hit their target. Fenris is mercilessly pelted by the barrage, each individual sphere not packing much power on its own but the sheer numbers of them and the speed with which they come making for a truly withering assault. She’s slowly driven backward, each impact pushing her back a few feet.
By the time the Rainbow Barrage ends some thirty seconds later, Fenris is over 300 meters farther away from Pavoroc than she was when it started. The hellhound stumbles, dazed from the pummeling, but manages to stay upright. With a flap of his wings, Pavoroc lifts off and rushes toward his opponent. As he closes in, Fenris suddenly leaps forward as well, her fangs glowing with heat.
Unfortunately for Death’s Bride, this battle has gone on long enough that by now Pavoroc had anticipated exactly that. Another slow-motion moment ensues as the guardian rolls over onto his back in mid-air, extending his talons as Fenris passes over him and sinking them into her chest. Now locked together, the opposing momentum of the two monsters makes them pivot around their collective center of mass, Fenris rotating toward the ground while Pavoroc rotates skyward. The end result is Fenris being slammed very forcefully back-first on the rocky terrain with Pavoroc standing on her chest.
Not wanting to stay so close to his opponent for any longer than necessary, Pavoroc quickly takes off with a flap of his wings, landing a parting volley of wing lightning on Fenris once he’s airborne. After gaining some altitude, Pavoroc begins pumping his wings, whipping up a Bladestorm...

Fenris wheezed painfully, flat on her back and winded. Stretching her canine and dragon heads up, the chimera narrowed evil yellow eyes at her foe. Pavoroc beat the air with his mighty wings, kicking up a strong tempest. But there was much more to the action than just some wind. With a quick sniff and a hot breath of fury, Fenris realized the winds were laced with the same cursed energy blades from before, unseen but still dangerous. Luckily, the nose was much harder to fool than the eyes, and the invisible projectiles had the same distinctive odor of ozone and heat most energy attacks did. Even as she glared up at her hated foe, Fenris couldn't stop a small grim from stretching across her muzzle. The bird was clearly experienced. She did have another trick up her sleeve, and now was the perfect time to unveil it. The draconic jaws mounting her shoulders cracked open, a crimson glare rising in their scaly throat.
Erupting from behind jagged fangs, two hellfire blast roared into the sky!
One of the fireballs detonated almost immediately as it met Pavoroc's Bladestorm, flames blooming in midair and washing back over Fenris in a blazing wall. This struck the winged champion as odd. Yes, the Hellhound Queen had failed to strike him several time before with her crimson flames, but he had been actively avoiding them then. He was currently hovering in one place. What was the devil dog up to? He was quickly pulled from his worries was he realized the other hellfire blast was still on target, closing in on him rapidly. Pavoroc jerked to the side with a flash of sparkling feathers, but the unstable orb caught his shoulder and exploded violently. Sent tumbling through the air, the great bird plunged. The guardian hissed sharply. It was a hard hit, his flesh bare and burnt, but he could easily recover before striking the ground.
That is, he could have, if several thousands ton of rabid demon hadn't slammed into him from above.
Pavoroc shrieked shrilly, half out of pain and half out of shock. He didn't know how, but Fenris had somehow appeared hundreds of feet in the sky and tackle him in midair. Claws buried in his chest and maw pulled into a sick smile, the Hound of Death breathed over Pavoroc, eyes smug and hungry, flames still dancing from her form. Flames! That was it! His chimeric foe had somehow used the very fire from her projectiles to transport herself above him. He didn't have much time to relish this discover however, as the ground and gravity decided it was time to intervene.
Porous stone cratering beneath him, Pavoroc vomited up blood as he was hammered into the unforgiving volcanic rock, Fenris landing on top of him!
As Pavoroc sat limply beneath her, bleeding out that delicious life essence of his, Fenris howled, long tongue slithering out over her curled lips. Blood! She had to have more! As her canine head gloated over the bird, Fenris's dragon heads lunged forward and chomped down. Pavoroc screeched in agony as Death's Bride bit into both of his wings, just beyond the shoulders. Teeth shredding flesh and feathers into a hot mulch, the two reptilian mugs yanked back suddenly, tearing loose respectable prizes that were promptly swallowed. Furious at being made to watch the consumption of his own body, Pavoroc lashed out with his lethal talons. Fenris yowled in alarm as the hooked claws tore into her underside, drenching Pavoroc in a crimson shower. To prevent herself from being gutted, the hellhound pounced back with a sharp yelp.
But as the bitch queen landed, she continued past what should have been solid rock, sinking down into her own shadow like an inky pool. Already speeding through a dimension of fire and brimstone, the wolf raced for Pavoroc's shadow, where she planned to ambush the noble beast...

Pavoroc’s eyes immediately grow wide and he glances down at his own shadow as the dots connect in his mind. Not just flames, but shadow as well He leaps into the air with a flap of his wings and twists in an effort to avoid what he knows is coming. At that same moment, three sets of jaws shoot up from his shadow, followed by the canine body. The jaws snap shut mostly on thin air, but one of Fenris’ dragon heads gets a mouthful of gray flight feathers from the tip of Pavoroc’s wing.
Upon landing, the hellhound quickly spits out the feathers and turns around, firing off a Hellfire beam. The guardian swerves and avoids the beam, at which point Fenris fires another. Pavoroc rolls, allowing the beam to strike him in the chest, where it scatters and begins swirling around him. Fenris snarls, less than pleased in the knowledge that her own attack will soon be turned on her once again. And Pavoroc doesn’t disappoint her. He slows to a hover, looking down at the hellhound as he slowly flaps his wings to keep aloft. He begins charging his Rainbow beam, the swirling mass of colors gathering in front of his chest. However, the now-white streams of energy orbiting his body begin to converge on the rainbow energy in front of his chest, adding their power to its own.
Fenris tenses her muscles, readying her legs to spring her out of the beam’s path once it fires. However, instead of firing the Rainbow beam, Pavoroc fires a volley of wing lightning. Her reaction on such a hair-trigger, Fenris leaps to avoid the attack. Almost before she even leaves the ground, she mentally curses herself as she realizes the guardian had once again anticipated her reaction and made her run right into a trap. The bolts were merely meant to make her jump and thus leave her completely open to the real attack. The fully-charged Rainbow beam, further enhanced by the energy of Fenris’ Hellfire beam, launches forth, even larger than normal and with sections of pure white interspersed among its normal rainbow hues. It slams into Fenris mid-leap, instantly driving her to the ground and detonating with a powerful explosion which throws her back into the air.
The hellhound crashes down in a heap a couple hundred meters away, rolling twice before coming to a stop. She groans and gets to her feet as quickly as she can manage, which understandably isn’t all that quickly after all. She then looks up to where her opponent last was, only to see empty sky. She begins looking all around, spinning her body, all four of her heads constantly looking in different directions in an effort to locate the bird. But he’s nowhere to be seen!
After several seconds, she catches movement out of the corner of her eye, but it’s far too late to react. Pavoroc slams into her side talons-first at full speed, having used the uneven terrain to mask his approach. Had he not been going nearly five times the speed of sound, Fenris would have heard his hawk-like scream a moment before the strike connected. He drives her into a nearby rock outcropping, the hellhound hacking up a gout of blood from the crushing impact of being sandwiched between the unforgiving rock and the supersonic bird. Pavoroc then removes his talons from Fenris and ascends. The hellhound slumps to the ground, fully revealing the huge spider web of fractures that spread across the surface of the rock from the epicenter of the collision.
As Pavoroc swings around for another pass, Fenris shakily rises, shadows beginning to cover her blood soaked fangs and snarling lips. She snaps her head up, sending forth the gaping, inky black maw. Between his own speed and the projectiles’, Pavoroc cannot avoid the attack, and the Shadow Jaws sink into his shoulder. Crying out in pain, the guardian loses control and veers off to the side, plowing through a pillar of rock before crashing to the ground. He bounces, which ironically allows him to catch the air again and continue flying without having lost too much momentum. Once he regains some altitude, he fans out his train, unleashing a brilliant flash from his body. Fenris howls as she’s blinded again. As the hellhound vainly attempts to regain her sight, Pavoroc’s body starts to glow with rainbow energy. The glow fades in and out rhythmically, the time between each glow growing slightly shorter each time.
“Consider this an honor, hellhound! It’s rare for me to resort to this attack!”
After a few more seconds, the glow becomes constant and Pavoroc slows to a hover. A low hum begins to build as the energy approaches critical mass. Hearing this, and possibly sensing the massive energy building, Fenris fires Hellfire beams from all three of her heads at Pavoroc. The guardian lets out a hawk-like scream as his glow increases in brightness before a truly gigantic beam, easily approaching 200 meters in diameter, launches forth from his body.
The trio of Hellfire beams meet the Rainbow Destroyer, but are absolutely no match. The massive beam continues forward unhindered and slams into Fenris, completely engulfing the hellhound and driving her backwards. In just a few seconds, she’s nearly a mile away from where she started, at the end of a trench torn through the ground. The beam finally detonates, resulting in a huge mushroom cloud that races thousands of feet into the sky.
The beam ceases and the glow fades from Pavoroc’s body. He slowly begins to descend, watching and waiting for the smoke to clear. It does so fairly quickly, aided by the hot wind. After a several seconds, it’s cleared enough for Pavoroc to see the outline of Fenris sprawled out in the center of the nearly 400-meter wide crater. He perches on an outcropping, breathing heavily, his energy too drained to attack any more for now. When the smoke fully clears, Pavoroc can see the full extent of the damage. Most of Fenris’ fur is burnt off and her skin scorched. Blood is leaking from several wounds caused by the sheer power of the beam ripping her flesh.
The guardian waits to see if his opponent will rise...

And indeed Fenris did rise, although it could scarcely be seen how. As the devil dog shakily rose upon her lanky legs, body shuddering with strain and eyes squeezed shut in her great suffering, Pavoroc cocked a brow up. His chimeric foe was a sad sight, her entire frame bare, bleeding, and ragged. If he had any sympathy for the beast, he would try to assist her. But, as it was, he believed the demon deserved every bit of it. Flaring his plumage and clapping his wings powerfully, the bird called out to Fenris.
"Still alive, then? Shame. Oh well, that can easily be remedied."
With those last word, Pavroroc leapt into the sky with a sweep of colorful feathers, a trail of brilliance blazing behind him. Swooping down at Fenris, the avian champion swung his wicked claws forward, planing on ending the wolf quickly and cleanly. A talon through each eye would do quite nicely. But Fenris would allow no such thing. She may be bruised, she may be bloody, she may be half-dead and still sinking, but she refused to go down without making damn well sure the blasted bird felt every bit of pain she did! Pavoroc let his beak fall agape when the the canine giant whipped open her eight eyes, each burning with a strength that she simply shouldn't have had.
With a piercing howl and a burst of power that defied her poor state, the Hellhound Queen launched herself at Pavoroc!
The winged guardian hardly had time to react before yellowed fangs were buried in his chest, and gnarled claws wrapped around each wing to restrain him. Head snapping skyward with an eagle-like cry, the noble bird fell back, overwhelmed by Fenris's weight and fury. Yet the hero wouldn't just let himself be dragged down. Eyes narrowing with deadly focus, the bird prepared to loose a round of wing lightning to suggest that Death's Bride kindly remove herself. But before Pavoroc could loose the electricity crackling across his vibrant wingtips, an unbearable burning sensation sunk into his chest, right were Fenris was comping down. The sharp warrior, with years of experience and a keen sense for these things, realized the agony that was about to befall him a split second before his breast erupted in blood and flames.
Fenris had launched a hellfire blast at pointblank range!
Ripped from the hound's jaws with an energetic geyser of demonic fire and his own life essence, Pavoroc was hurled back by the brutal blast, eyes wide and filled with pain that no vocalization could do justice. Drenched in a hot, savory shower of blood and shredded tissue, Fenris relished the moment, a nasty grin tugged at her lips. That grin was wiped away in an instant when a technicolor beam- a parting gift from Pavoroc- slammed into her face, dropping her immediately. Even as he bounced across a rough stretch of volcanic rock, bleeding freely into the porous stone, Pavoroc was able to enjoy the moment when his twisted foe collapsed without a struggle.
Fenris wheezed miserably, her face wet and warm. The rainbow ray hadn't been particularly strong, rushed and given no time to charge, but the short distance to its target made it no less pleasant than any other blow the Hound of Death had received during the battle. Once again rising to her feet with a good deal of trouble, Fenris gave Pavoroc a glare so intense the bird wouldn't be surprised to see lasers jump from the wolf's eyes. The flying giant was perched on a large rock that jabbed up at the heaven, looking startlingly cool and collect considering he wasn't in a much better state than Fenris. He almost seemed to be mocking Fenris with his calmness. A rumbling growl rose in the devil dog's chest. She didn't like to be mocked. Eyes scanning the bird for any notable weakness or flaw, the demon's gaze wandered to the rock the defender sat upon. Several deep fractures cut a irregular path into its face. With a little snort, Fenris realized it was the very rock that Pavoroc had rammed her into. After a few second of vengeful plotting, a wicked smile split the hellhound's face. Then the smile parted, ushering a column of raw power into the world. Two identical beams were guided by the beast's draconic heads. With a cocky smirk, Pavoroc lifted lazily off his perch, wings moving slowly and easily. The mutt wasn't well if she though that would catch him off guard.
But he wasn't the target of the trio of hellfire beams.
With growing alarm, the bird watched the three blast come closer together, not closing in on him, but the rock just below him. The three beam smashed into the already damaged rock, blowing it apart without issue. Pavoroc was far enough away to avoid damage from the explosion. But not the debris. Launched as if from a cannon, jagged shards of stone tore into the guardian! With his wings spread wide in flight, Pavoroc was pelted across the widest area possible, dozens of hot stone chunks punching holes deep into his torso and wings. At the same time, Fenris charged the distracted bird. As she ran, body screaming in pain with every stride, her form blurred and darkened. She had already gone damnation mode once in this duel, and was severely injured to boot, but she had to do it. Even if she could only hold it for a few seconds and still suffered for it, it would be worth it to at least get even with Pavoroc.
Making an enormous leap, which was accompanied by an air-shaking roar, the queen of the bubbling pools and burning fields burst into fire and shadows!
Colliding with Pavoroc, Fenris flowed over him, inky form contorting into his shape as she rushed past. Particularly targeting the holes already made by the debris from the detonation of the rock, the twisted bitch washed over the champion in a great, burning X-shape, cutting down as far as she possibly could. If she had been at full strength, Pavoroc would have surely been rendered to pieces. Her black mass clearing the bird and returning to its original shape, Fenris reverted to normal in midair, blood clinging to her patchy pelt in a crimson comet tail. Behind her, Pavoroc hit the ground hard, very nearly disemboweled and the dull gleam of his collarbone shining up from the pit of two especially horrific slashes across his shoulders. As the bird gurgled on his own blood, trying his best not to suffocate, Fenris followed his example, legs giving out as soon as she touched the ground. Falling flat on her stomach, the chimera moaned painfully. She made no effort to get up. She was too exhausted, both her physical strength and energy reserves spent. But even as totally drained as she was, the demon actually smiled.
Win or loose, death or survival, this had been a battle of truly epic proportions, and she enjoyed every bit of it!

((OOC: I aplogize for the delay. My ability to use this computer has been limited lately.))
"Attention, this fight has concluded in a DRAW! Congratulations to both contestants. Return to your quarters immediately."
The reason being that, while Fenris was more powerful physcially, Pavoroc had the edge with ranged weaponry. And although Fenris could hit hard with melee attacks, her ability to defend against Pavoroc's ranged arsenal was a little more limited. And those last couple of hits were real nasty on both sides.
But it was a very entertaining match to read.

Breathing shakily, Fenris forced herself to stand, legs wobbly and weak as a newborn's. Slowly shuffling to face Pavoroc, the demon took a moment to regard the bird, who was just as bloodied as her. She expected to feel hatred or anger at not seizing victory from the winged defender. Instead, she felt... satisfaction. This sensation was neither negative or positive, but sat square in the middle. She acknowledged his power and skill, yet still refused to respect the champion and his naive ideas of justice and virtue. No beast had ever won her respect in the eons of her existence, and Pavoroc wasn't going to break that trend today.
As the bird raised his fierce head to meet the hellhound's gaze, Fenris shot the guardian one last hideous smile before vanishing in a pillar of light.
(Excellent match, IR. Interesting match-up and fun as hell.)

As the teleporter beam carrying Fenris vanishes, the corners of Pavoroc’s mouth curl up. The guardian spreads his wings and raises his head to the sky, letting out a cry that starts off like a hawk’s scream before ending like a peacock’s call. He then gives two flaps before folding his wings again and turning around, stepping into the beam of light behind him.
A moment later he’s in his quarters. He walks over to the regeneration tank and settles down in it, readjusting his wings as the doors shut. As the green liquid begins to flow into the tank, Pavoroc huffs in displeasure. Being submerged in liquid of any sort is not something he enjoys in the slightest, and frankly if this stuff wasn’t so amazingly soothing he probably wouldn’t put up with it. He closes his eyes and drifts off to sleep, letting the healing liquid do its job on his battered body.
(Epic match indeed. 'Twas a blast.)
