Name: Dr. Christopher "Chiron" Ixion Rowan
Height: 5'7"
Mass: 145 lbs
Age: 40 (percieved), at least 30,000 years old (biological)
Voice Actor: Pierce Brosnan
Description:
In his human form, Rowan is of relatively average build. He has long chocolate-brown hair, a small goatee, and russet-brown eyes. He wears a gray business suit, perfect for disguising himself among the human populace.
However, appearances are not as they seem. Rowan is in fact a Centaurian, a survivor of a long-lived race lost to time. His upper half remains human, except that he is now clad in silver armor and that his eyes have yellow scleras and orange irises. His lower body, however, is the body of a white horse, but with multicolored flames around his hooves. A series of orbs around his body can transform into six different long-range weapons: red stun-beam launcher, orange flamethrower, yellow hand-bow, white crossbow, blue phaser rifle, and ultraviolet missile launcher. All the orbs in their dormant form trail fire of their respective colors, and another red orb with a brilliant orange and yellow flame forms his tail.
History:
Thousands of years ago, in the annals of ancient history, a great many people spoke of gods, monsters, and myths. The reasons for these abound, ranging from exaggerated accounts of existing phenomena to embodiments of human qualities. One of the most unusual theories, however, is that these myths may have come around as a result of encounters with life forms that are not native to this planet. Such is the exciting theory of ancient astronauts, visitors worshipped as deities... or feared as monsters.
One of the most celebrated myths is that of the centaur, Chiron, who came to Earth as a son of the titan Cronus and the nymph Philyra. In contrast to other centaurs, who were violent and rowdy, Chiron was intelligent, civilized, kind, and noble - in other words, he was simply an outlier among his kind, so to speak. His true lineage is unknown, but modern belief is that he came to Earth in the form of a shooting star, or rather an escape pod from an exploding starship. It is unknown exactly how he assumed the centaurian form he is most famous for, since there are no known planets to have a similar race to his. However, the centaur race that has been depicted in ancient Greek art may provide hints towards an extinct species, the last of which survives only as Chiron's mortal form.
Since the fall of ancient Greek civilization, Chiron mysteriously dissapeared, for reasons yet unknown, although his departure may have resulted from a skirmish involving the ancient centaurs, in which he was mortally wounded and had to leave Earth to recover. With the advent of modern day, he was all but forgotten, until the 20th century, when claims of alien life rekindled mankind's interest in the extraterrestrial.
The summer of 1947 was the most promising event, when a mysterious object allegedly appeared in Roswell, New Mexico. To this day, the identity of the object, and the truth behind this event, have been kept top-secret by the Intergalactic Federation. However, the rumors never did die out, particularly since there was speculation of an alien corpse or two recovered from the crash site...
As it turns out, the mysterious deity that had left Earth so long ago had returned for reasons hitherto unknown. Somehow, he had lost control of his hosts' transport system, and he was the only one who had survived the attack. Why he had chosen a different host is unknown, but as soon as he realized where he was, Chiron resumed his human guise, sensing that he would be here for a long time to come. And when the scientists came forward to see him, he so addressed them...
"My fellow friends and hopefully future allies, I have come from an era long before any of you. I am the last of an ancient race, who vanished many years ago due to circumstances unknown, but I have remained on this world because of powers you can never imagine. But, in my lifetime, I have also seen much tragedy, for in my days, the human race only cared for itself. People wanted power, glory, and fame. But man is a volatile being, and a mercurial one, speaking in terms of the geological time scale. I come to this planet today, because I understand that, in the millenia that I have been away, mankind will certainly have changed. I come today in the hopes that, when I do return, man will have become much better as a sentient being, and will seek to act not just for himself, but for others around him. And this I see all around me: environmentalism, peace corps, charity funds, health care, even government policies, although that last one may be pushing it a little. Of course, if there are still problems that need to be fixed, that is where I come in. Let me show you what I truly am, and you will believe me."
Before anyone could say anything else, he morphed into his centaur form, and gasps of shock and wonder abounded as everyone realized that here was their first real alien! Surely, the world as we knew it would be turned upside down if word got out!
Fortunately, they didn't dissect him. They trusted him good enough, and besides he was too wise to waste. So instead, they immediately took him for questioning, where he explained about the universal crisis. His proposal was that the Earth connect with other civilizations throughout the galaxy, in a collaborative effort to defend valuable allies against the threat. The humans were taken in by his theories, and though they were still skeptical of this mysterious stranger, they decided to trust him anyway and gave him all the legal documentation required to pass off as human. Within a few months, Dr. Christopher Rowan, Ph.D., quickly surfaced as one of the leading heads of the scientific community, and the most eminent kaijuologist of the day, and was welcomed into the scientific community with open arms and open hearts, where he would remain invaluable for many decades to come. However, it wouldn't be until fifty years later that his life would change yet again, when he answered the doorbell to his home one day, to find a most unusual boy on his doorstep...
Personality:
Rowan is wise, caring, and focused, perfectly suited as a leader for the Celestial Court. Although he is perfectly capable of holding his own in battle, he is not one you can count on to ride into battle on flaming hooves and bugle calls. Rowan firmly believes that every life worth saving deserves to be saved, and as such he prefers to make peace with those whom he meets instead of challenging them to battle. However his great amount of intelligence often leads him to come off as long winded and elitist at times. He is quick to remind others of their flaws and can drag out such tirades near endlessly, sometimes to his detriment. His idealism can often blind him to the bigger picture or leave him holding the idiot ball when his philosophy doesn’t fit the situation.
Towards his adopted son, Chiron is most caring of all, but unlike Drew himself, he sees his flaws clear as day. Ever since his son's banishment, Rowan has made a full-blown effort to steer him back to sanity, and to rectify the flaws that got him into trouble with his hometown.
