PolluxVS. Kori KahnREF: Soundwave ARENA: A field of high rock pillars, the tops of which can serve as platforms for ground-based combat. These pillars are spaced far enough from each other that combatants will have to traverse them by gliding. (Also, I wonder if we can have both competitors post based on the monsters' POV like I do? I figure it would be fun to read their thought processes in battle.)

(I'd be willing to do that.... Kori Kahn's an interesting character inside his head, even though he really doesn't talk much in combat.)

(Good to know. Here's my intro.)
I don't know where to begin this, but for the time being, let's just start by saying that this was my first match. Following Castor's defeat, I decided it would be good to prove my own worth. Today, I would be battling Kori Kahn, the ice dragon, in the mountainous regions of the UCA's planet. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I'm Pollux, THE one and only. And here at the UCA, I was determined to show everyone my skills. We had arranged for the fight to take place at sundown, the perfect time for my full power to manifest itself. As my trainer wished me luck, and as I stepped into the teleporter, I wondered what would happen. Would Kori Kahn become a friend to me? A rival? Who knows? WHatever the case, I wasn't gonna let Frosty humiliate me in front of everyone.
**************************************************
The teleporter beam sliced its way down onto one of the rock pillars at the arena. As I blinked and looked around, I noticed that this field resembled the cliffs that I used to live in back at our own homeworld. This was gonna be a riot! Spreading my enormous wings, I launched myself into the sky, letting out a piercing screech as I did so, and scanned the rock pillars for the dragon who would hopefully become my newest ally...

I had long given up upon the lung who had been so egotistical and cruel. He was not worthy of my presence. A beast as disgusting as that was destined to be crushed between my talons, and watch as its own blood stains the floor, before the cold embrace of death descends upon him on pale, icy wings. But he was for another time; I had business elsewhere.
As I entered the mountain range via teleportation, my mind drifted into distant memories of the past. Ah, the days as Lord of the North... with those kindred humans grovelling before me, worshiping me, as I protected them from the invaders of the outside world and slew the evils that assaulted them with little to no problems. Those were the days, when I was king of the world, and no one stood as tall and powerful as I. How I long for those days. Now, I am old and weak.... not only was I defeated by an arrogant giantess female, but I also lost to my new-found friend, Athujen, guardian of the forest.
Then there was the psychotic saurian who, literally disappeared before my very eyes. It was infuriating to be cheated of a fair fight, but I digress- I believe he said something about his master being "banned", whatever that means. Now, here I am, fighting this pterosaur creature who calls himself "Pollux, the Winged Moon". Another magical beast, so it seems. I pray to my ancestors that this creature has some sense of honor. Because if not... he'll be wishing he was never born.
A resounding roar broke out from between my lips, as I beat my icy pinions and took to the air. My eyes lock firmly upon the pterosaur that dared challenged me. I shall see if he is worthy of praise... or simply more scum to terminate....

Kori Kahn, the great ice dragon, and I stared into each others' eyes for one beat. This was going to be a great fight, I thought. And then, folding my wings, I swooped at him, talons out, a signal to let the fight begin.
At first contact, we met claw to claw, spiraling through the air like great birds of prey. With a loud squawk, I swiped my sharp beak at his neck, latching onto the side of his neck; I could feel the serrated edges cutting into scales as hard as steel. Kori Kahn couldn't shake me off, but he had weight by his side, so he too went on the offensive, sinking his own icy fangs into my shoulder. The chill of his body enveloped me like a cool night breeze as we flapped in the wind, grappling at each other, trying to see which one of us would fall first.
Eventually, though, it was size that mattered. Kori Kahn was at least twice as heavy as I was, and he had all that extra muscle power to match. I suddenly found myself slammed to the side of one of the rock pillars, the impact causing me to let go for a moment. That was all he needed as his jaws closed around the side of my neck. My armor-encrusted neck. The teeth gripped onto the edges of my articulated back plates, but couldn't pry them off. This was why I had chosen to fight him, not Castor. I was stronger, more resilient, and anyway, I had a full payload to deliver.
My clawed feet struck out, my talons sizzling with black energy, and I swiped across his flank. The dragon recoiled, surprised but not angered, as he circled round to come at me again. I didn't stop to think - I pushed off from the side of the pillar and arced upwards towards him, aiming another Night Slash directly at his head.

I felt my icy blood begin to run down by pearly visage as the pterosaur raked his shadow-shrouded claws across my brow. This creature had great power, I could sense that; and he was honorable, which was an excellent change of pace. From that moment on, I knew I was in for one hell of an interesting battle. A roar rippled forth from my maw, breaking the silence that had fallen as we locked gazes. Now, it was my turn to attack.
With a roar, I flew towards my much less bulky opponent, talons outstretched. He attempted to dive away from me, but I moved faster. My claws raked across his thick scaly armor, before they found themselves a good grip on the bird-beast. He let out a cry of distress, and attempted to peck me with his oddly mouth shaped appendage. I replied to his cry with a thundering bellow, before I thrust my icy horn into his shoulder. I felt his warm blood run down my nose and hurtle down toward the mountain range, and the poor creature yelp in pain as the frosty appendage pierced his flesh and sliced through muscles.
Before long, I withdrew my horn and kicked him off, sending the hapless creature into a downward spiral. To my amazement, however, he managed to recover in midair. But he wasn't flying towards me- no, instead, he was heading towards the top of the mountain. I followed, my frost wings beating with an efficiency that I cannot explain. My lips curled up, before I spat my trademark ice breath towards my leathery winged opponent. The frosty blast washed over his form, frost building up on his armor and his neck, plus parts of his face. The armor managed to shrug off my chilling torrent, but the flesh struck by the beam was not so lucky; I could see discomfort painted across Pollux's visage even from this distance.
Pollux began to ascends towards me, ready as ever for blood. But I was ready, My head upturned, before I launched a solid sphere of ice, formed by using my frost breath to freeze some of my saliva solid. The orb struck Pollux head-on, creating a mist that obscured his vision and hid him from sight from me. But I could hear his wing beats, so I knew where he was. I snarled with satisfaction before I dove towards him, claws ready to strike...

Kori Kahn was right - this WAS going to be an interesting match. It was a good sign that he took my fighting style well, especially because he and I were equally matched at everything save for weight. Knowing your allies' power and skill would make all the difference if you wanted to ask for his assistance in the future, and this dragon had both. And as a matter of fact, so did I.
As soon as I heard the rush of great wings, I knew he was coming in for another round. It was time to surprise him. Pausing only to let a wolf-whistle slip through my beak, I whirled and backflipped just as he closed in. Curved talons met scaly chest as I judo-flipped the startled Kori Kahn head-over-heels and sent him spinning out of control. The dragon fell, twisting and writhing through the air, but he wasn't about to give up so easily as he extended his claws and slammed them onto one of the rock pillars.
My great wings still had a slight icing of frost, but I shook it off with one great flap before swooping at him. Kori Kahn was too busy trying to hang on to the rock face to counterattack, and as I buzzed him, his surprised roar as my talons raked down his back sounded rather satisfying. However, at that moment his tail came whipping up to meet me, and now it was my turn to feel the pain as it connected with my left flank. Kori spread his wings and dived at me, but I managed to regain control, whirl round to face him, and ready my weapons just as we collided again.
I may have been lighter in weight than Kori was, but I was just as strong. My talons gripped his neck tightly as I flew upwards, taking him with me, the sheathes of dark energy around my claws helping them dig deeper into his flesh. Kori tried to slash at me, but I had found the sweet spot that would keep me away from those teeth and claws for the time being. Of course, I could only carry him for so long. As we rose over the tops of the pillars, I whirled in mid-air and tossed him towards the platforms once again, giving me enough distance to charge up the next surprise I had in store for him...

With a mighty beat of my frosty pinions, I righted myself in midair. The bird creature was certainly strong, that was a for sure. My gaze narrowed as I locked my eyes on him. What was he doing? My mind raced as my wings beat to keep myself aloft, chilling mists gathering in my maw. But I realized my moment of pondering was a poor choice on my part. Suddenly, the venerable Pollux dove towards me, form shrouded in shadow. My eyes widened, nostrils flaring, and suddenly I felt my heart fill with fear.
The pterosaur slammed into me. And he hit HARD.
The shrouded form of the monster nearly knocked me into the mountainside, my body shivering with pain from the impact. My eyes narrowed with fury as a thundering roar broke out from my maw. Now, the pint-sized bruiser shall pay. Pay with his blood. As the pterosaur made another dive towards me talons outstretched, I spat a beam of ice breath straight towards his arrogant visage. The avian monster screamed with misery as ice gathered on his face, much to my satisfaction, as when he came close to me, I took a swing at him with my claws. I felt my bladed paw rake across his face, as his blood stained my talons crimson. The force of my strike nearly knocked him into the mountain, as he spiraled into a free fall. But he managed to recover before that.
My mind had calmed down, and I immediately felt guilt over my blood lust. How could I be so monstrous? I could feel my heart grow heavy with sorrow at the pain I had caused to this brave- yet foolish- creature. But I had little to think to myself about this moral issue, as He ascended back towards me, already ready to strike. A snarl exited my maw, as I dove down from my vantage point in the sky. As we passed each other, akin to what the humans once called "jousting", he slashed his talons at me, claws cloaked in darkness. But my reach was longer, and my claws instead tore along his side, raking across his armor and slicing into the flesh it could find. Pollux squealed in pain, as he and I whirled around back at each other. As I made a second pass towards him, I suddenly flew up overhead, swinging my spiked tail towards his face with the intent to maim....

The flash of my beak was all Kori needed to realize that something was amiss. Next moment, the tip of his tail was clenched in my jaws, and both of us were feeling the pain of being attached to each other. On the one hand, my beak's sharp edges cut into his skin, sinking past the spikes. On the other hand, said spikes penetrated the inner lining of my mouth as well, and I could taste my own blood mixed with his. I did not want to admit that his blood actually tasted quite... savory, though a bit cold, because I didn't want to offend him. But I pushed that thought out of my head as I swung myself around and let go, tossing him aside like a ragdoll.
Kori braked in mid-air and whirled to face me, his tail still stinging from the bite mark. As I barreled towards him, I could see a beam of ice forming in his mouth. There was no time to dodge - but then again, why bother dodging? My Shadow Smash was already beginning to form as the beam came at me, and within seconds, I was an icicle with wings. Which was speeding towards Kori like a runaway jet plane. The ice dragon only had a moment to express admiration at my ingenuity before I plowed into him, ice and shadow combining into a harmonious two-tone impact. Together, we arced gracefully across the sky before landing on the side of the mountain cliffs that surrounded the field, the force breaking my icy shield. Kori's powerful claws managed to grasp my shoulders, but that didn't stop me from wheeling skyward again. I could have attacked his wings, but that would have made it too easy, and besides, his long-range attacks made grounding him moot. So instead, I let him fall, allowing him to readjust in time to turn towards me again.
This was so much fun. But not the evil kind of fun, no - I viewed this as a sport, as a kind of competition. But of course, that was beside the point. If I was to have any hope of having Kori as a viable ally, I would have to see how well he fought. And he certainly fought well, if the fact that he was streaking towards me with his frost-coated teeth out was any indicator. So it was with an appreciative smirk that I folded my wings and dove towards him once more, my Shadow Smash also playing out at full speed.

But I was prepared for my foe this time, as his shrouded form hurtled towards me at nightmarish speeds. At the last possible moment, I dove out of the way, watching as I narrowly missed him. The bird like creature seemed to have a hard time making sharp turns, so instead opted to circle around in a wide arc, attempting to flank me and get in another attack. He was fast and tricky, I'll give him that. But I had size and strength on my side. As he prepared for another Shadow Smash, he was met by a wall of icy breath. The cold froze across his face, leaving a layer of frost and blinding him for a while.
But, this plan was faulty on my part. Too distracted with my frosty assault, the pterosaur struck me anyways, sending me flying across the sky before striking the side of the mountain range. That young, spunky creature was a good sport about it, however, and managed to get airborne relatively quickly. But I had already launched another assault. As he barely recovered, I slammed my 70,000 tons into his form, slamming us both into the mountain, but he took the harder hit. I pinned the hapless beast against the stony structure, and slashed his thrice across the chest, leaving nasty wounds in their wake.
Pollux screeched in pain- one full of anguish and sorrow, one that tugged on my cold, ruthless heart strings- before he lashed out with his razor sharp talons. I immediately moved back ,as my eyes narrowed at him. I wasn't about to relent to him, solely due to feeling sympathetic towards him. I had made that mistake with Athujen, and the result was mind-numbing, nightmarish, ungodly pain that shattered my will to fight. In retaliation to the underhanded move (though I will admit that it was well executed), I shot a sphere of ice right into his face, creating a mighty cloud of mist.
As the pterosaur thrashed about, trying to dispel the mist, I circled to his left flank, jaws clacking together and teeth gnashing as I prepared for combat. I beat my mighty pale wings, as I let out a thundering roar that seemed to shake the very earth. Suddenly, the cold winds of the north descended upon the mountain range, before a violent blizzard kicked up. I planned to test how well he fared in MY domain for at least a little bit...
OOC: Blizzard lasts one turn, so at the end of your post, WFR, the blizzard will disperse and the environment will return to normal.

The blizzard threw everything in for a loop. Since I relied mostly on my eyesight, witnessing my world turn completely white made this battle far more challenging. The fact that Kori's body was white too did not help. That didn't mean I couldn't catch him, though. I had my hearing, and the moment I heard his wings beating as he closed in, I knew I had him right were I wanted him. Kori emerged from the snow, talons out, but I suddenly barrel-rolled, thrusting my own claws up and into his underside. Kori snarled in surprise as I righted myself back up and yanked him in the opposite direction before letting him go. The dragon sailed through the air and regained his balance, directly in front of me. I wasted no time, swooping in while he was still stunned... and receiving a point-blank ice beam to the face for my trouble. My beak was frozen shut. My wings had to flap extra hard to keep me airborne with the extra weight. I couldn't even turn to counterattack as Kori's teeth sank deep into my back. Next moment, I was falling towards the nearest platform, Kori having repeated the same trick I'd tried on him (but with more success). But of course, I was ready for him. As Kori swooped in, ready to toss me aside again, I lunged forward with my ice-covered beak, aiming for his neck. I missed, but I managed to roll aside just as he landed. Kori tried to swipe at me, but I leaped up and seized his tail, holding on tight to avoid being blown away by the violent snowstorm. As I did this, Kori found himself being yanked backwards, and he had to dig his claws into the rock to anchor himself. But he couldn't hold on forever. One flap, one tug, and I had sent us tumbling into the wind. Kori only had one second to gather his senses before I struck out with the claws on my wings, aiming for the soft spot on his chest...

The winged beast sliced his wing's talons across my chest. Pain infiltrated my mind, as I felt my cold blood drip forth from the wound like an icy river, before it traveled down my muscular chest and stained his razor sharp claws. A bestial snarl broke out from between my jaws, and with a beat of my mighty pinions, I broke away from my assailant, preparing my own counter attack.
The two of us circled high above the mountain range, probably appearing akin to massive hawks as we soared across the sky. The blizzard I had conjured up had long dissipated; life in this tranquil land had returned to normal, and the buffeting winds and sharp ice shards had obviously had an effect on the mighty Pollux. His eyes locked with mine, before he unleashed a piercing cry into the heavens, as if taunted me. I replied to his call with a thundering roar, and before long, the peace was broken in favor of more bloody carnage.
Before long, the two of us collided, a swirl of ice and darkness consuming us like the clouds consume the light of the day. We grappled at each other's throats and chests, the clever Pollux using his smaller size to get in beneath my limbs and attempt to strike my chest. I, too, fought him, using my bulkier frame and stronger limbs to push him away from my weaker underbelly and strike him across his visage. A splash of blood stained my face with his warm blood, and painted my claws red. A deep gash was left in the strike's wake, as I prepared my next move.
A blast of ice soon erupted from my ruthless maw, unleashing a torrent of blistering cold upon my adversary and causing frost and ice to gather in the spots stricken by my chilling assault. The gargantuan sky beast beat his wings with much tenacity, even as my breath blinded him so. His persistence both amused and impressed me. Perhaps this creature was more than he appeared. As Pollux shook his head to dispel the layer of ice on his face, I dove toward him at lightning fast speeds, before I slammed my muscular form into him, wing spikes digging into his shoulders, ear thorns tearing into chest flesh and my horn entering his gut. Before he could retaliate, I withdrew my head from his belly, leaving a bloody hole as I ripped my weapon from his body, I snapped my frosty jaws towards his neck....
