Archipelago The Archipelago is a tropical paradise made up of thousands of small islands and atolls and the ocean surrounding them. The islands vary widely in size, ranging from tens of square miles to little more than large sandbars. Most are covered in lush tropical vegetation and have beautiful white sand beaches. Spacing between the islands varies, depending largely on the size of the islands themselves; larger islands are spread farther apart while small islands tend to be found in clusters. Likewise, the depth of the water to an extent depends on the distance between islands, with deeper water being found in the larger stretches between large islands. However, the bottom universally drops off quite quickly, at about a 2/1 ratio from the shore (i.e. 100 meters from shore the water would be 50 meters deep) down to a maximum of about 600 meters deep, at which point the seabed levels out. In the case of a cluster of small islands, it’s likely this max depth won’t be found anywhere. Generally, battlefields are centered around a single island with the surrounding islands being too far away to reasonably reach in the heat of battle, but of course there are exceptions depending on the size of the island and its proximity to other islands. On rare occasions battles take place exclusively in the water with no land at all in the vicinity.
