The Forest, as the name suggests, is a densely forested region full of huge trees. However, there are two different types of forest within the region, and the size of the trees varies between them.
The first sub-type is like a rainforest. This has the smallest and most densely-packed trees in the region. The trees range from 50 to 90 meters in height and are very dense, meaning monsters have to “wade” through them much like a person has to wade through dense brush.
The second sub-type is like a redwood forest. These trees are much taller, around 300 meters, and spaced far enough apart that monsters can move between them. Smaller and more agile monsters in particular will find maneuvering through here quite easy, while larger monsters may still have some difficulty. Despite the size of the trees, however, monsters generally won’t be able to climb them due to their vertical trunks and relatively small and sparse branches.
Finally, scattered throughout the entire region are a handful of truly gigantic trees. At nearly a mile high and with branches spanning double that, these trees are practically forests in and of themselves. They somewhat resemble banyan trees, with numerous massive aerial roots reaching down from their limbs to provide support. Their trunks are relatively short compared to their overall height, with their lowest branches being around 600 meters or so above the ground, and very thick, easily 300 meters in diameter. Their bark is rough and deeply grooved, much like that of an oak tree. This highly-textured bark makes the trees exceptionally easy for most monsters to climb. Vines and huge clumps of moss grow on and hang from many branches. Due to the shade provided by their branches, the trees beneath them are shorter and less dense than in the surrounding area. There are only several dozen of these ancient behemoths in the entire forest region, so it’s rare for a battle to take place near one.
It should be noted that all of the trees in the forest region are highly resistant to fire. Individual trees can be set aflame through a directed effort, but the fire won’t spread to others as it would in a normal forest. The giant trees are even more durable, with the bark on their trunks and main limbs able to easily withstand even directed attacks with essentially no damage. Even limited attacks won’t do more than blow off some bark in those areas. The smaller branches of course are more susceptible to damage, but there is essentially nothing any monster can do to harm these trees in any significant way.
