The Wasteland is a barren, sun-baked landscape. Like the forest area, it can be subdivided into two types of terrain. The first terrain type is little more than rolling sand dunes, like stereotypical desert. The size of these dunes varies greatly, from small ones which won’t hinder movement much, to huge ones which tower over monsters. The sand in this area is all loose, often making it a chore for monsters (especially larger, heavier ones) to move around. Vicious sandstorms are not uncommon. The second terrain type is much rockier. The ground is flat and hard-packed, and massive rock outcrops are scattered all around. This area can actually be further subdivided into two more categories, depending on how much erosion has taken place. Some areas are very heavily eroded, and so are very open with relatively few rock outcrops. These areas are somewhat like Monument Valley on Earth. Other areas are much less eroded, resulting in mazes of canyons. These areas more closely resemble Canyonlands National Park. (First Sub-type) (Second Sub-type) Regardless of the terrain, it is always very hot in this region during the day, with temperatures soaring well above 100 degrees, and dipping below freezing at night. This usually isn’t enough to bother most monsters much, but those that are sensitive to temperature extremes should use caution.
