The Volcanic region is an area of extreme volcanic activity. Hundreds of volcanoes litter the region, all of which are constantly erupting. The sky is always covered in a thick blanket of black storm clouds, produced by the smoke and ash spewed by the volcanoes. Lightning flashes through these clouds often. Despite the sun being completely blocked out by the storm clouds, the area isn’t dark. The red-orange glow from eruptions and rivers of lava is enough to light the area, albeit dimly when there aren’t any in the immediate vicinity. The ground is entirely composed of volcanic rock, and tends to be rather uneven, with furrows and outcrops created by buildups of lava and miniature eruptions. There is no vegetation at all in the area. Due to the constant eruptions, the ambient temperature is no less than 200 degrees, but of course it’s much hotter when closer to erupting or flowing lava. Aside from the obvious hazards of lava flows and explosive eruptions, other dangers include pyroclastic flows and poisonous gas emissions.
