SharpteuthA G A I N S TCarchariusArena: Archipelago Ref: HayesAJones Intro: In the Archipelago setting, it is a beautiful, tropic day. The sun shines brightly, there's a minor breeze, and the oceans are crystal clear. Suddenly, a flash of light under the ocean sneaks up on the arena. The flash of light is the teleportation and arrival of Atlantis' mighty Kraken to the UCA; Sharpteuth. Under the seas, Sharpteuth speeds forward like he was en route to take out an enemy nation of Atlantis when the UCA intervened. Noticing a change to his surroundings, the cephalopod stops and looks around. Not the waters he was in a second ago... Sharpteuth ascends to the surface where his armored head floats like a buoy, checking out the surroundings and see what's in store for him. The sooner he completes whatever task he was brought here for, the sooner he can go back to save his great underwater nation...

Carcharius was hungry. This was nothing new. What was new was that he was able to think about it as such. Usually, he would go and attack the nearest creature and eat it. The "food" the UCA provided him was beginning to grow stale. He needed something new, something exotic something like...
As he though, the screen in his quarters lit up, showcasing some of the new arrivals. One in particular caught his eye.
...something like calamari.
Carcharius began to salivate at the prospect of this new meal. He immediately stepped onto the telepad and awaited transit. The UCA staff knew just what he wanted and immediately sent him there.
---
When the light faded, Carcharius once more found himself in a tropical paradise. The scenery wasn't what interested him, as much as the armored cephalapod in the water nearby. With a challenging bellow, Carcharius announced his presence. He would eat well today...

Sharpteuth senses the threat originating from this shark monster abomination. He paruses the devil shark Carcharius' mind telepathically, though the juggernaut's hunger is as clear as the tropical day around the two and can easily be read, telepathy or not. Minds and emotions linked mentally at the moment allows Sharpteuth to feel the creature's carnivorous hunger. He may not be a threat to my home...but he is to me. I will disable him in the name of my great nation! The words ring boldly through the enhanced cephalopod's mind. Sharpteuth retreats under the water's surface and descends deeper into the ocean; Carcharius follows behind, first leaping into the water off the island he teleported and stood on, following in hot pursuit like the true predator that he is, chasing Sharpteuth deeper into the ocean's depths. To the man-shark beast, the squid is retreating for his life, but the cunning Atlantian bioweapon is merely traveling to an appropriate setting to strike first. As he travels, his tentacles waver as the squid is in motion. He reaches a suitable location just seconds later, and that is when he turns, ready to fight.
Hungry Carcharius pays no attention to the squid's end of motion and turning to face him. He'd thank the squid if they had a universal language; thank him for stopping and making apprehending him all the more quicker and easier. Sharpteuth's tentacles are all retracted and close by the body for just a second, then with lightning fast reflexes typical with a squid during this trademark attack, Sharpteuth's two major "arms" lash out, hooking his pair of grapplers into Carcharius' gills on the side of his face (near the body) and reeling him towards Sharpteuth with a quick jerk. Crimson liquids exit the puncture sites lazily, appearing like a mist underwater while it mixes with the hydro element. As part of his first attack, Sharpteuth's razor hooks flicker with a deep orange luminousity, then flash solid (and they stay that way- continuously solid orange). The heated melee tools deliver burns to the outside skin that presses against them, and [especially] burns the inside where the hooks are impaled through. Carcharius' body writhes and struggles as ample amounts of steam pour out from the burning sites abundantly. Arms of Atlantis performs a trio of trademark screeches, each lasting different amounts of time. The burning weapons start to inflict some serious painful stimuli to the nerves.
Now reaching satisfaction over his commencement attack, Sharpteuth removes his heat hooks- but not gently. Instead of being careful, the cephalopod viciously pulls his hooks from the sites of damage. If they weren't inorganic, Sharpteuth would certainly feel pained and damaged from the shark's serrated skin. The scent and taste of his own blood has the man-shark itching for a meal even more. If he wants this squid for lunch, he's gonna have to work for it, such has been clearly made evident by the heroic cephalopod's sadistic attack.
Once removed, the hooks' warmth deactivates. The searing quality to them evaporated any of Carcharius' blood, reducing them to clean weapons like they were at the start of the brawl. To hungry to be inhibited by pain, The oceanic leviathan speeds forward while waving his tail fin to increase his speed. With razor sharp teeth, Carcharius bites down on the unarmored pinkish tentacles of Arms of Atlantis. The chirp that follows is one of pain and distress over the stinging penetration of the unarmored, unprotected limbs. Carcharius jerks his head in all directions to tear the objects open and feeds on the delicious blood. To counter the attack, Sharpteuth fires off his special, weaponized ink point blank into Carcharius' face. The stinging in his eyes (retinal pain, to be precise) results in the immediate release of the now-bloody things of the heroic cephalopod, combined with soreness from the thick black material intertwining with the wounded gills, causing more soreness to throb from the sites of damage. Carcharius wipes away at his eyes to rid them of the harmful substincem leaving Sharpteuth with an opening to strike; strike fast, and strike hard. The Atlantian mascot manifests an orb of energy both concussive and psychic in its makeup. The sphere is as clear as the beautiful waters, and additionally surges with frost white and multicolored thin strands of energy moving inside. It is first established just a minute disstance before Sharpteuth's armored head, then travels forward with a burst of psychic energies. The projectile hits the chest of the shark devil- hits it hard with enough force to feel like an adept punch to the chest that knocks Carcharius into drifting backwards. His very bones, specifically ribs, shutter and quake from the force of the psychic grenade.
Now, it is the chest's turn to throb with tenderness; the slate gray skin taking on a blue'ish tint as it swells into a bruise. The predator, however, is too hungry to let it restrict him from attacking and feeding his stomach with flesh and tasty blood. For his next attack, Arms of Atlantis coils armored tentacles around his aggresor's forehead, throat, and back of the neck. Again, the armor and inorganic properties of the tendrils prevent denticle-induced harm. The serrated steel hooks tear into flesh and commence suction by the mechanical/technologically-induced force of the tendrils. Carcharius' struggling only hurts the kaiju, not helps him, for the struggle just widens the puncture sites and sheds more blood to increases the aquatic juggernaut's insatiable bloodlust. So overwhelmed by hunger, Carcharius effectively ignores the painfully sharp sensations created by the claws- another squid trademark.
Sharpteuth ceases suction and retracts his effective weapons, tearing up shreds of flesh and inflicting more damage unto the great white predator. For his final act of rebellion, Sharpteuth unleashes another [thick] cloud of black inky mess, this time with the intent to cause increased retinal pain and augment the pain of the open wounds...

Carcharius barreled through the cloud. Although the pain was immense, it was fading as he began to smell the scent of blood. And he didn't need to see to find Sharpteuth. The cephalopod, confident in his ink's abilities, was caught off guard as Carcharius slammed his jaws shut on the squid's main body, splintering armor and biting into the fleshy bits beneath. Carcharius ripped it all out, guzzling blood and flesh as he slammed his talons into the edges of the wound, tearing and slashing as he quested deeper into the Atlantean's hide.
Sharpteuth, not normally prone to emotions like panic, was still a little worried, as the angle from which the beast had attacked was making it difficult to bring his defenses to bear. Additionally, he was a little distressed over the fact that Carcharius was tearing through his armor so easily. Carcharius, for the most part, didn't care one way or another. He had been engineered to fight other monsters, to tear through armor plating with ease. Sharpteuth's defenses were no exception. Blood, ink and other fluids mixed into the once pristine waters as they frothed with the churning of both combatants. However, one of the squid's tentacles managed to come dangerously close to skewering the shark, instead cutting a bleeding gash across his flank. Carcharius loosed his grip and went aafter the offending appendage, clamping his jaws shut on the armored tentacle, splintering metal and digging into the softer flesh beneath.
As the two continue to struggle, Carcharius' bladed tail fin sits poised, ready to strike at the bulk of the Atlantean defender...

Amidst the grappling, Sharpteuth is in awe that this commoner of a monster can and has torn through his Atlantian armor! He deduces that the shark is from a future with abilities equipped to deal with Atlantis' fine alloy, and even though it has been breached, Sharpteuth stays cool and does not relent to simple panic. Arms of Atlantis catches glimpse of Carcharius' tail entering into position for an attack as Carcharius bites down on a new spot on the kraken's body. In order to protect himself, the Atlantian squid solidifies the water around himself after ensnaring the bipedal shark's torso with the armored tentacles. The serrated hooks pierced Carcharius' exterior another time. Now, the water expands outwards, pushing Carcharius away while the suction of the tendrils keeps him nearby. The predator releases any clamp he has on Sharpteuth to growl as two powerful vacuums pull at him; Sharpteuth does not let either force relent. The water ends up winning the tussle with the hooks and Carcharius drifts away, staring at his hunks of meat clinging to the bladed tendrils.
Carcharius is surrounded by his own blood leaking from his body. The sweet scent, that distinct taste with a hint of copper to it... By helping himself, Sharpteuth also helped his shark opponent further into a lustful insanity. Ignoring the throbs ever-present around his midsection, Carcharius swims forward with arms glued to his sides, legs extended, with body and tail moving to send him ahead. That's when Sharpteuth flees- rather, appears to flee. Carcharius follows the trail of blood and ink with fangs bared. At just the right moment, Atlantis' son stops abruptly, extends his harpoons (heated, of course), and goes into a furious spin (rotating himself like a violent top (or whatever they're called. brain fart right now xD) with a little mix of hydrokinesis and telekinesis). The now-spinning cephalopod is pushed by a clear force; the squid-in-motion, transformed into a blur, crashes into the bipedal carnivore. Unlike a top, which bounces when it hits a solid object, the cephalopod unrelentingly keeps moving forward, carving up Carcharius like a serrated turkey. The behemoth's face, chest, and on one of his sides play home to diagonal indents, unique with dried black skin coating the "gulleys". The temperature of the sabers cauterized the lacerations, lucky for Sharpteuth, because Carcharius is unpredictable enough for the kraken.
The heat of the blades and the depth to which they dug are enough to snap Carcharius out of his state of mind (not completely, mind you. Just enough to retreat back a hundred meters give or take). But not well enough apparently (or his hunger has control), because he goes in again after the now-immobile squid.
Carcharius' face, chest, and on one of his sides play home to diagonal indents, unique with dried black skin coating the "gulleys". The temperature of the sabers cauterized the lacerations, lucky for Sharpteuth, because the scent of blood (albeit his own) would just make Carcharius repeat the previous minute. Sharpteuth strikes before Carcharius can get too close; again, his pair of major tentacles lash out with speed, but instead of hooking, they just capture. He pulls his shark opponent in and gives him a taste of his own medicine- a deadly bite from a deadly orifice. Sharpteuth's beak slices through the base of Carcharius' neck and compresses around the collar bone. After just seconds, the two titans hear cracking from the bloody area. Carcharius can feel the fragments of bone break off, and the cracks in the skeletal area. He roars, acknowledging the pain despite his crazed state of mind. While he's got a painful (the sharp type of pain) hold on Carcharius, Sharpteuth slices his bladed tentacles through the water, attempting to skewer Carcharius' chest...

Carcharius is falling deeper and deeper into his own insanity with each passing second. But the mutations bestowed upon him by Hera have a awakened something like intelligence within the predator as well. He now retains some of his focus, despite his rising bloodlust. He grabs at the incoming tentacles, keeping them from slicing open his body, all the while pulling himself closer to the main body of the Atlantean. Carcharius slams his jaws shut on the squid's main body, and then begins to do the unthinkable. He begins to swim with his catch. The long tentacles of the kraken flail behind him as the pair rise up out of the water before Carcharius beaches his catch. The relatively light weight of his prey means that this job was particularly easy.
Sharpteuth tried to crawl back to the water, but Carcharius was having none of that. He ripped and tore at the squid's body, ignoring the pain in his own form as blood and fluids stained the sands around them. A lucky hit from one of Sharpteuth's tentacles wasn't even enough to deter the super-predator. Another slam of his claws saw them driven deep into the Atlantean's body.
Finally, Carcharius prepared to tear the kraken apart with his fangs once more...

Sharpteuth has to act quickly before he suffers more fatal maulings. Carcharius, maw open wide and saliva slipping down his fangs, is a moment away from lunging. Sharpteuth, sprawled against the ground, beached against the sand, reacts accordingly. Carcharius' eyes open wide as torrents of defensive ink enter into his mouth and get swallowed down. His eyes then shut when the ink enters their surface and burn, like a caustic substance. The man-shark backs away a couple steps, not giving the Atlantians' bioweapon much time to act, but enough time to "stand up". To stand, the cephalopod is on his pointed, armored tentacles, with exposed smaller tentacles squirming behind, and the arm tentacles of 'teuth acting as the arms. While he has time, Sharpteuth retaliates.
Bursting from the water, a hammer-like tool made of aqua spinning in the air, and cracks down on Carcharius' right eye. bouncing off after impact and evaporating into the air after it has served its purpose. The dense assault on a sensitive, burning area creates quite the blast of pain to surge throughout. Carcharius holds his damaged area and starts swiping through the air with his free arm. His tail also kicks up to try and strike Arms of Atlantis, but no luck.
Meanwhile our story's heroic squid has been charging up a certain attack, making each attack fluid and quick because the berserk shark has proven he can act and recover, and especially strike, at spuradic and random moments. Here comes attack number three.
A cryo-sphere.
Sharpteuth's body lifts so that the head is horizontal, and the beak i pointed at Carcharius. The aqua blue-mixed-white orb is released forward and crashes into Carcharius' (who's eyes have started to regain themselves through the toxic excretion) chest. The water still saturating his body acts as a sort of conductor, amplifying the cold of the freezing energies, covering the chest, arms and shoulders in a thick layer of frost. The bipedal shark can feel the cold down to his bones. Sharpteuth is unexpectant of Carcharius' immediate ram into him since being able to make out Arms of Atlantis' blurry figure. Sharpteuth staggers back, his tendrils weaving fast to move backwards. Now, Arms of Atlantis hovers into the air from being charged with psychic energies. He gets a telekinetic hold on Carcharius (who's suffering from a bit of frostbite), raises him above the sands, and sends him crashing down with the entire shark's body under the manipulation of Sharpteuth's mind...

Carcharius is helpless against the squid's telekinetic assault and is pummeled against the sands. But he doesn't feel it. In fact, he doesn't feel any of his wounds any more. His body's natural response to the scent of blood has finally kicked in, shutting down pain receptors and pumping his body full of hormones, increasing his strength and stamina. But his mind is still his own, for the time being. He has yet to give in completely to the hunger.
Carcharius quickly picks himself up out of the sand and pounces on the beached kraken once more, denying him a return to the sea. Fangs and claws bite deep into flesh and armor, much to the Atlantean's dismay. He tries to use his telekinesis to pry the monster fish off, but with the shark's talons embedded in his flesh like they are, all he suceeds in doing is hurting himself as well. Carcharius is stuck dangling in the air for a moment, when he rears back his head before unleashing a powerful fireball into the Atlantean's face.
Sharpteuth shrieks in agony as the flames roast his exposed flesh. This also has the added benefit of breaking his concentration and hold on Carcharius, who now plummets straight down, claws and fangs aimed right at the mighty kraken...

Sharpteuth, despite the pain he's in, uses his mastery of the mind to ignore his pain and damage enough to retaliate against the nearing Carcharius. Charging himself with telekinetic energy, the squid retracts his limbs; the arms retreating into the damaged shell entirely except for the hands, the unarmored tendrils retracting 100%, and the armored tentacles retracting all but the blades, and Sharpteuth hovers 10 meters off the ground for a moment, before launching himself like a bullet.
It is his "Underwater Bullet" technique.
Sharpteuth slices through the air just like a bullet and rams tip-first into Carcharius' chest. Due to the shark beast's descent, it made the attack all the more effective; Arms of Atlantis basically guts the aquatic kaiju. He impacts so hard, that a loud "crunch" sound could be distinguished by the two enemies. The kraken did not fracture or break any ribs, and certainly did not break off fragments to enter the bloodstream and nick anything vital. His edged tip, however, did press hard against the skeletal region, resulting in that ear curdling noise.
Naturally, the impact sent a shockwave channeling through Carcharius' chest, increasing/creating the ache, and shedding crimson ichor onto the damaged armor of the Atlantian's Bioweapon. Carcharius under the control of his infamous bloodlust, just gnaws at already-fractured armor, removing shards and clawing into Sharpteuth's head with teeth instead of claws, ignoring the hot pain existant in his chest. Sharpteuth remedies the situation by extending an arm and stapling his quarry's mouth shut with a heated harpoon blade. The saber passes through the lower jaw and comes to a stop inside the roof of Carcharius' mouth. Carcharius fights the weapon and struggles to open his mouth, only serving to increase the injury further as the sharp blade rakes against points in the mouth. An increased volume of blood starts pooling out of his mouth and onto the squid.
As Sharpteuth's launched armament reloads itself, he retracts the arm back close to his body and telekinetically turns over. Sharpteuth enters into a freefall, bringing the bipedal shark along for a ride. The two pick up speed since dropping from about 1,100 meters in the air, building some serious momentum (not to mention from Sharpteuth's aerodynamic status right now), and as the two crash into the ground-Carcharius sandwiched between the sandy beach and Sharpteuth's helmet, another "crack" is heard, but this time accompanied by spurts of warm blood. The edged tip drives deeper into Carcharius' chest, still not inflicting mortal injuries, but...still performing serious damage, and serious pain (which in his current frenzied state, Carcharius will not feel). Sharpteuth hovers into the air now, and kicks up a telekinetic sandstorm in the form of a tornado. The tornado passes over Carcharius and captures him up in it. Whether he feels it or not, hot sand starts to mix with his open wounds, especially that deep, nasty chest injury...

Carcharius bellows as he tears through the burning tornado, oblivious to all but the scent of blood as he pounces onto the kraken and proceeds to tear into the armor plating further, questing fro the scent of warm blood and the taste of flesh. The Atlantean flailed away, but the close proximity of his target made it almost impossible to land a hit on his target. Carcharius ripped loose a chunk of mangled flesh and armor alike before swallowing the mess whole.
The Atlantean screeched and whistled in pain as Carcharius continued to rip and shred his way deeper into the body of his prey. He slashed repeatedly across the main body of the squid, attempting to pry loose more armor, and, for the most part succeeding. Carcharius proceeded to burrow into the flesh of his victim, while his bladed tail fin was poised, ready to strike and parry...

Before the blood-thirsty shark can follow up, a mental presence other than his own takes control of his body (the body, not the mind). He is helpless as he's motivated to push his clawed fingers deep into his injured gills, and rip a pair of blood-soaked chunks out and throw them to the sand, where they start to cook from the heat accumulated by the sun's rays bathing the grainy ground. Through his frenzied state, Carcharius feels that, and bellows in pain, but not hindered.
With time to now, Sharpteuth floats into the air spinning like a top, all tendrils extended and adding to his amazing form. Sharpteuth comes to a landing on Carcharius' back. The serrated skin of the shark cuts up the unarmored small, pink tentacles of the squid, but for the greater good (that being his upcoming attack), Sharpteuth ignores it, ignores his blood dripping on the shark's skin, and hooks heated anchors into Carcharius' shoulders while furiously assaulting his back with the great Kraken beak. Over and over, the beak chews through flesh and creates one big mushy area, while his heated hooks burn Carch's skin into a flaky, black and crusty residue, all while pulling on the deeply-embedded hooks the worsen the wound. Carcharius goes crazy, snapping his jaws at air and writhing around, making Atlantis' kraken feel like he's riding a mechanical bull. Sharpteuth abandons the attack and floats away, but not without taking a chunk of the tendered back flesh with him in his beak. The wound exposes Carcharius' innards, being a gaping hole and all. The blood heavily leaking down his sides excites the bipedal shark further. Sharpteuth draws his turn closer to an end with a Cryo-Sphere directly to the back wound, freezing around it and inside of it. The numbing cold hampers Carcharius' berserk state; how couldn't it? The arctic damage spreads down his back, down his spine, numbing his movements for the time being. Sharpteuth roars in squeaks before calling on the mighty element of the ocean to generate a massive tidal wave, which is about to crash on Carcharius with quite a lot of force and ruin his day...

As the massive wave topples over the shark, Carcharius and Sharpteuth alike were swept away, the Kraken riding the wave effortlessly, the shark mutant getting pummeled as he was dragged along the bottom. But as damaged and disoriented as he was, Carcharius could still track his foes. And as the water settled, Carcharius sensed the squid barreling right for him again. The shark, however, had had enough. He propelled himself right into the tentacled mass and began to bite and claw. The sheer ferocity of the assault took the guardian by surprise. How could he still be fighting, after the beating he had sustained?
The fact is, Carcharius didn't feel the hurt, and pain was now a foreign concept. What he did know was that the taste of squid was overpowering, even if he had to crunch through layers of armor to get there. And all those bite wounds continued to bleed profusely, thanks to the anti-coagulant in his saliva. Wires and tendons alike screeched in protest as Carcharius attempted to tear loose one of the many tentalces that festooned the beast, only to have them yanked from his grasp each time. But the squid was still bleeding, as Carcharius dug his talons into another section of armor plating and ripped it loose, exposing the succulent flesh beneath.
With this new opening, Carcharius prepared to bury his fangs into the guardian's hide once more, perhaps this time would bring an end to the struggling of his lunch...

Carcharius bites down, feasting on greasy calamari. Arms of Atlantis screeches from each chomp. Thinking quick, he angles his ink shooter down just a little bit, and floods the man-shark's mouth with it. Down the sticky black liquids go, passing through the throat, entering into the stomach. The organs react negatively to exposure with the squid ink, causing sharp pains and a stomach ache, but notably, it does not seriously or severely injure the organs, or lessen Carcharius' life any less. Pain is the only outcome, not rule-breaking harm. However, to Carcharius, the pain is non-existent in his consciousness. He is too far gone in his lust for blood.
To get rid of the unwanted ocean-stalker, Sharpteuth hydrokinetically pries the fearsome jaws open and brings the bipedal shark back about 300 meters. A cryo-sphere shoots and detonates half-way between the Kraken and his enemy. It is controlled to freeze a big area of water, so while an underwater tsunami kicks in, it draws in the fracturing ice to increase its hazard. Now the twisting, powerful force speeds forward only to stop when Carcharius is inside; the force drives the ice shards against/across and into Arms of Atlantis' quarry. A dagger-like shard of ice slices deep through the edge of the mouth, giving Carcharius half of a "glasgow smile". Innumerable shards that are hefty inside become pinned throughout Carcharius' body, particularly the already-injured, bloody gills and incredibly close to the eyes (around them). To note, there are ice fractions that are as long as half of the shark's forearm, and they do an artful job of ruining the bipedal shark. Not long after it begins, Carcharius is hidden inside the tsunami/underwater hurricane by torrents of excreted blood caught in the spin cycle.
Finally, Carcharius is released, but as the telekinetic storm releases him, a large clump of tightly-compacted coral swoops in at around Mach 2.8 and sinks into Carcharius' chest, spilling a cloud of crimson ichor and being moved around and stuck well inside by manipulating the water to become extensions of Atlantis' great defender. Carcharius grunts, but takes a big taste of his own flooding life fluid. For his last attack, Sharpteuth discharges a Cryo-Sphere straight for the chest...
