Name: Stygius: The Carrion Queen
Height: 90 meters @ outer mouth (rearing like in the picture)
Length: 150 meters (inner mouth retracted), 300 meters (inner mouth at maximum extension)
Mass: 40,000 metric tons
Description:
Stygius is a gigantic tapeworm-like creature with an appetite for rancid carrion. Her slug-like body has fleshy lobes running down the back, and is patterned in black, purple, and bone-white. On the front is a large mouth full of sharp teeth. Said mouth opens like a ghastly flower to reveal a second mouth, attached to a scolex like a beef tapeworm. This mouth has five venomous pincers, five venomous stingers, and five rows of razor-sharp teeth inside.
Personality:
Equipped with a relatively primitive nervous system that belies a complex personality, Stygius is a loner by nature, and outwardly has little to do with emotions or feelings, preferring to remain stoic and bitter, sarcastic and rather aloof. Though she won't hesitate to fight for other monsters and people, she tends to avoid socializing whenever possible. Though she isn't stuck-up, she tends to move with a purposeful undulation of her feet and underbelly, caring little about the antics of other kaiju. In spite of outward appearances, however, this is not because of a hatred for all living things. Rather, it is because the few interactions she has had with them have led to unpleasant memories beyond the comprehension of many mortal creatures, and she therefore believes that associating with those who lead active, social lives carries too great a risk. This fact notwithstanding, however, he inevitability of things beyond her control is something she contends with pretty much all the time, and as a result her acceptance of such inevitability has become almost second-nature to her, for as far as she knows, tragedy is simply part of her worldly business.
She looks like an innocent disembodied stomach when idle, but when forced to fight, Stygius is a force to be reckoned with. Part of that reason is because she has developed some of the best defenses known to kaiju, having served as a literal living punching bag for just about everyone bigger than a three-story building and more. Her way of handling "problems" is to let them continue attacking what looks like a defenseless slimy sack that can't even move out of the way. Once she detects weakness, however, she will strike with all the pent-up energy she has. Nothing satisfies her quite like the priceless flicker of an enemy's mana pattern when she forces it to attack to the point of exhaustion, and then returns fire when her foe least expects it.
Attacks:
-Nested Mouths: Stygius's main weapons are the double set of mouths on the front of her body. The outer mouth opens up like the petals of a flower to reveal the ghastly scolex, consisting of a faceless head with a deadly tooth-lined mouth-sucker on an extendable neck.
----------Bite (Strike 1): Stygius can bite using either the outer mouth, the inner mouth, or both. The sucker mouth is more dangerous because the venomous outer fangs work more like claws than teeth, latching onto an exposed area and allowing the toothy inner sucker to, well, suck upon the skin and flesh, tearing horrific wounds into the opponent. If secured to a limb, the inner mouth can also reel the prey in so the muscular outer mouth can bite said limb off by secreting her digestive juices into the wound.
----------Stinging Feeling (Strike 2): The inner mouth contains five long feelers that are normally entirely purple and used to smell, taste, and touch, but the tips turn black when the stinging cells are primed. These secrete the same venom as her outer fangs when in battle. Contact with exposed flesh can cause unlucky opponents to double over in pain, and for smaller opponents it may even be fatal.
----------Sucker Punch (Charge): The extendable neck of this giant worm can shoot the inner mouth outwards with surprising force. The outer pincers spring outwards like a grapple while the inner teeth shut tight to avoid damage; a blow from this attack, especially at top slithering speed, can be devastating.
----------Roundhouse Necking (Jump-Strike): The neck is long and muscular and can be used as a weapon itself. Stygius leaps and then shoots/swings the neck, using the outermost teeth and fangs on the scolex to deliver extra damage.
----------Constriction (Combo 1): Both of Stygius's combos serve to immobilize and damage the opponent over a space of time. Constriction involves biting and then wrapping her neck and body around the opponent, keeping it in place long enough for either her or another enemy to finish it off.
----------Swallow Whole (Combo 2): A more gruesome method of immobilization, Stygius's mouths can expand to engulf things many times their normal size. Stygius will envelop at least part of her opponent in her mouths and secrete acid, damaging the parts of the opponent unfortunate enough to be caught inside.
----------Sticky Touch (Combo 3): The disgusting mucus coating on the Carrion Queen's body is very viscous, sticky, and thick as the tar she spawned from. Using her neck or body, she strikes onto an opponent and deposits this nauseating slime on the body to form a sticky cocoon that encompasses part or all of the body, rendering entangled appendages useless.
-Digestive Juices: The gastric acids of this worm monster have the horrifying effect of literally rotting the flesh should they enter an orifice or open wound. A spitball from her will not affect armor much, but softer hide and raw muscle are at far greater risk.
-Glue Net: The long-range equivalent of Sticky Touch, the mucousal slime that covers her body can be concentrated by a gland on the tail into thick, sticky ropes. Fired from the tail gland, they can pin down enemies from a distance without the need for her to slither over and risk injury.
-The Smell of Decay: Stygius's Mana Gland empowers her digestive juices with the ability to rot flesh, but it can also produce a special ghostly vapor that she secretes inside her stomach. A pressurized jet of the "Smell of Decay" can knock back opponents and cripple them. When inflated, she can use this attack both to disable opponents and jet herself out of harm's way like a deflating balloon - sometimes both at the same time. This however decreases her mobility drastically and since the gland takes a decent amount of time to recharge the gas, she'll have to stick to slithering on the ground until it does.
Powers/Abilities:
-Slime Shield: Her mucus-lined, leathery skin is impenetrable, period. Given that she routinely devours opponents who could easily rip apart a regular worm kaiju in a similar size range, it has to be. Piercing, slashing, biting, poisons, and energy attacks won't so much as scratch or smudge the mucus coating let alone the skin. The only way to bypass this is through either blunt-force trauma or an attack delivered at the inner neck and mouth, which she protects at all costs.
-The Smell of Decay: The ectoplasmic gas she produces is more than just a weapon. It is her lifeline to survival. She normally holds it inside and breathes from the inside of her stomach, but if need be she can also release it outwards and produce a dangerous corrosive mist to conceal herself. Enemies that stumble into it tend to get lost in the mist and, if they are unlucky enough to inhale it, suffer from serious breathing problems as the mist's decaying effects literally erode the lining of the lungs away. If enough gas is produced, Stygius can use it to inflate herself, increasing her size to intimidate opponents and even floating like a slimy zepplin to attack foes in the air.
-Phasing: By entering the spiritual plane, Stygius can "teleport" via slithering to the the location parallel to the desired one in the mortal world and entering the mortal plane again. EXTREMELY handy when dealing with enemies stronger and tougher than she is, this allows her to slither right through obstacles, the ground, and even opponents themselves. A variant of this is the ability to turn intangible at will, so enemy attacks pass right through her if only for a very limited period of time.
-Keeper of the Dead: As is befitting the manager of the afterlife and janitor of the world, Stygius can sense spiritual mana best of all. This allows her to detect souls and spirits where others will have problems and, additionally, gives her a sort of "sight" and "hearing" via tuning into the frequencies of living souls and spirits. She can also manipulate spiritual mana to some extent, controlling the various basal urges of others such as hunger, thirst, and sensitivity to pain; as traces of spirit mana remain in dead/dying organic matter, an army of zombies is not beyond her power.
Weaknesses:
-Slow: Stygius cannot move as fast as other kaiju, even when airborne. The undulation of her underside and stubby "feet" means other kaiju can outpace her with a decent jog.
-Anerobic Respiration: In the same way that a scuba diver cannot breathe water, Stygius cannot breathe our air. The afterlife provides the easiest atmosphere for her to breathe in because the ectoplasmic mist chokes out mortal things, but the oxygen content in the mortal world may asphynxiate her if she isn't careful enough to refresh her ecto-air supply every once in a while.
-Sensory Deprivation: As a tapeworm, Stygius has no eyes or ears, and relies on her phantasmic mana sense to see and hear. Those who cloak their mana are particularly frustrating opponents precisely for this reason.
