Carcharius lunged forward. It was the only thing left to do. The need to feed was growing within him, driving him relentlessly forward. Thanatos and his fire would not stop him as he slammed into the dragon, waves of fire covering his form as he did so. The firestorm was cut short as Carcharius slammed his jaws shut around the titan's throat, ripping loose a chunk of flesh as he drove Thanatos back to the edge of the pool. While much of the water had been turned to steam, enough of it was still left to soothe the burning in his skin, and to drown this meddlesome dragon.
Down and down the two sank, twisting and snapping at one another, Carcharius superior underwater agility aiding him against the more cumbersome Thantos, the dragon's blood flooding the pool, driving the shark to higher levels of frenzied hatred and hunger. With each bite and slash from his claws, Carcharius gained an advantage over his opponent. And, although his gills were burnt, they still functioned, allowing him to breathe. Thanatos lacked any such advantage. But as Carcharius backed off in preparation for one final strike, the dragon sped towards the surface, gaspin gin a lungful of air before Carcharius clamped down on the beast's tail once more, dragging his prey beneath the water.
Blood flowed from Thantos' many wounds, courtesy of the anti-coagulant Carcharius was constantly pumping into his system. And the shark aimed ot see it continue flowing, as he rippied loose the chunk of tail he was holding onto and prepared to take another one...

What could Thanatos do? Nothing; the teeth came down upon his tail and hit a vital point. The near end of his tail which the shark bit down severed, bone and all! Losing about 45-meters of tail. The pain was great, but none the less, Thanatos escaped. and Carcharis gorged... and gorged... The tail was scrumptious! Again and again his teeth came down, chewing the bone bare of flesh and blood. Even after bone was left, he ate that too! Every last piece, down his gullet... Oh the sweet relief he felt.
Thanatos again dragged himself free of the water and onto the land. He was quivering in pain... and soon anger as his own eyes laid upon his severed tail. His glorious tail, part of his flight system! This dragon was now seeing red on everything. With a deafening scream, flames erupted all across his body, vaporizing the water instantly and sending a plume of flames and smoke mushrooming up into the airspace above. It was a virtual explosion! Complete with a crater around the kings body.
Carcharius arose from the water with no fear, despite the ominous display of fire before him. "MOOOOORRRRRRREEEEEE!!!! his voice boomed. Yep, getting much stronger with every bite of dragon flesh. Even his eyes were gaining green strips.
Oh but Thanatos was consumed with rage. "Oh, you want more? By all means, COME. AND. GET. IT!!! Not that he gave the shark a chance. The flames completely engulfed the ash king, creating a ball of flame all around him. The fire grew so hot that the ground beneath him grew hot and runny like water. The fire sank... A sudden growl-like noise and the flames rose again, pushing up, and up. Meters above the field, the fire took a form. The form of a dragon! The jaws of the flames parted in a mighty roar, shaking the earth. And in the center, Thanatos, with his eyes glowing with rage and hate of crimson red. Eyes that gazed only at Carcharius at the moment. Nothing else in this state of hatred mattered.
but Carcharius was not far from that either. His hunger and rage was also burning. His teeth parted in a snarl at the towering creature of fire before him. He had no fear in this hunger madness.
"DIE, BEAST FROM THE DEPTHS! Hurican cried. The fires came down, head first. The jaws of the fire opened as the head zeroed in on the small target. Carcharius only lunged forward at the attacker... The jaws slammed shut, catching the shark and carried him forward with all the force of the fire behind it. The amount of fire beaming forward shot all the way across the ring, over the lake and causing most of it to evaporate in a massive white cloud that surged up, and all the way into the opposing wall! As the flames hit the wall, they could not go any farther. They lost their form and ignited into a hellstorm of fire, lighting up the entire Colosseum in hellish light that only lasted for ten seconds before turning into a black cloud.
Thanatos stood there, glaring at the path of destruction made by the flames. A massive black trail leading across the field and finally a massive black mark on the arena edge. And in the center, Carcharius... who probably never looked worse. He looked undead. Half his face was burned away, with his eye bulging out, but still working. His rubs showed and so did his stomach. Not an inch upon him was saved. All chard, black and cracked.
The dragon took a deep breath, regaining himself. He let all the rage out... Almost all. His eyes still glowed with the annoyance. "What of you now, beast? Do you still live?" An open challenge for his opponent.

Flakes of blackened and charred skin peeled off the shark as he slowly rose to his feet, his flesh crackling with each step. He was covered in burns. But that mattered little. Only hunger and rage remained, which would only be quieted with Thantos' death. Carcharius lurched forward as Thanatos laughed at at the shark's feeble attempts to move.
"You really think you can best me? I am THANATOS! Lord of the Adamant Continent! You are merely a bottom-feeding..."
But his words were cut short as Carcharius suddenly lunged forward, his jaws closing around Thantos' throat. The dragon recoiled from the impact, then loosed a blood-curdling screech as Carcharius ripped loose a chunk of flesh and swallowed it whole. Carcharius pressed the assault, pinning Thantos to the wall of the cage as he ripped and shredded at the dragon's belly. Blood sprayed every which way as Carcharius burrowed towards vital organs, only to be stopped by a powerful swipe from Thantos' wing.
Those wings...he remembered what to do with those. As Thantos prepared to strike again, Carcharius stepped to the side and raked his talons through the left wing membrane, ripping part of it to shreds. Thanatos, overburdened by his own momentum, landed in a heap as Carcharius towered over him, preparing to bring his foot down on the wing bones themselves...

The wing jerked away at the last moment, and Carcharius missed entirely.
Carcharius tried to follow up, but Thanatos had whirled around, bringing his wing claw right into the the side of the sharks face, making the whole monster stumble back. It was followed by another and another, until the shark was pressed back against the wall.
Thanatos lunged, jaws agape. Carcharis ducked, and the dragon bite the stone pedestal instead of the charged fishy flesh. At that moment, the shark full body tackled the dragon, teeth digging into the kings gut area! Already it bled streams of blood, giving the shark more to go on as he began to shake side-to-side with a mouthful of dragon meat. Both claws grasped the sharks face and with all his might, he pried the teeth out and threw the shark to the side. Carcharius was immediately on his feet, lunging again. Instead of allowing the shark to tear into more flesh, Thanatos lowered his head and charged forward. Carcharius found his jaws locked around the boney horns instead of bloody fat. That didn't stop him from trying to eat them, though. It was like a dog gnawing bone. With a powerful heave, Lord Hurican lifted his head up and the shark with it. Momentum carried, and Carcharius's teeth slipped and snapped as his body went airborne.
As he was coming down, Thanatos worked up a colossal fireball to blast the falling beast from the sky.

Carcharius continued to be roasted alive, the smell of his burning flesh mingling with the scent of the dragon's blood, the only reminder that he was, in fact, suffering excruciating pain...or, at least, he would be, if he had any feeling left. But what the painkillers in blood had done had only been compounded by the damage to his nerves from all the fire. Carcharius felt nothing. Nothing that is, except a ravenous hunger.
As he hit the ground, Carcharius bounded forward again, his wounds hardly seeming to slow him down, despite the mounting damage. Thanatos was busy readying another gout of fire when the shark slammed into him, digging fangs and talons into the lacerated and bleeding flesh of Thanatos as Carcharius savaged the dragon, pinning him to the wall of the cage. Blood pooled on the floor of the arena and in the shark's gullet as he ripped loose a chunk of flesh and swallowed it.
Thanatos bellowed in pain and was silenced as Carcharius slammed both fists into the dragon's head with a double hammer move, driving Thanatos to the floor as Carcharius bit down on the back of the dragon's neck. The smell of blood drove him to greater heights of frenzy as he prepared to add slashing talons to his crushing bite force...

Thanatos squealed as claws duh deep into his neck area. He struggled and jerked around, both monsters circling around. Awkward position be damned and what not! He could not fly and trying to push his attacker off was going to be too difficult. An attempt that failed, Thanatos erupted in fire. But even with flames eating at Carcharius's face, he did not release.
Finally Carcharius ripped free, with strings of flesh hanging from his hands and teeth. In his bloodlust, he stopped to feed; wolfing the pieces down with great delight. Ever so delicately he wrapped his sharky lips around his hands and pulled them clean of dragon tissue.
But while he fed and ate, Thanatos had more then enough time to bring the pain. After pulling up a sizable chunk of rock that broke free from the wall earlier, he had lifted it up with one wing over his head and coming down at Carcharius. When Carcharius looked up.....
WAM!
Bigger then his own head, the rock crashed down, sending the entire monster into the ground. The weapon itself fell apart and broke, but it worked well enough. It seemed Thanatos actually killed the shark. Convinced he crushed its brain with that blow, he backed up. He was out of breath, but calming down. "Ignorant thing... Oh but his hopes had to be dashed. The ruble moved and Carcharius slowly stood up. There was a massive gash on his head, but otherwise, perfectly fine.
Staring at this, Thanatos's surprised turned into instant rage. Just add water... "Why... Wont, YOU, DIE?! Carcharius roared and lunged, just as Thanatos did. The two collided in a crash and tumbled over each other. Before major blows could be exchanged, Thanatos had managed to throw the shark off and across the ground to give distance.
"Enough of this! Slamming both claws down, Thanato's braced. Fire churned in his belly and flowed over his teeth. Carharius was up and running at him... but then the fire came. An overwhelming beam of fire flowed out, striking the shark so hard it blew him back. But unlike before, Carcharius took it and then some. His feet caught the earth... then one slow step in front of the other, he came forward. Despite all of the force coming at him, he walked straight into the heat. His flesh was being blasted away, all the way until his underbelly was completely gone. Bone and organ exposed, at last Thanatos could not produce no more flames. Out of breath...
Carcharius lunged, despite looking like half a zombie. He grabbed hold of the dragon and slung him around, slamming his head into the ground before biting down on the neck again. Adrenaline kicked in, Thanatos decided no more of that. He threw his whole body into the sharks an toppled over with him. The move threw Carcharius off at least.
Just as both were getting up, the dragon king lunged like a coiled snake, ready to bite down on the now badly destroyed throat area...

((OOC: I think this should be the last post, unless our ref says otherwise. We're both pretty battered.))
Carcharius twisted aside, catching Thanatos by the throat before throwing to the dragon to the ground, unmindful of his exposed bone and viscera. Victory was within his grasp as he applied devastating pressure to the back of Thanatos' neck. Small snaps and pops accompanied his bite as Thantos' armor plating and muscles gave way, until a timely swipe by the dragon's tail dislodged the shark, and a few of the shark's teeth.
Carrcharius spat the bloody mess out as he gripped Thantos by the horns and slammed his face into the pavement, repeatedly. Blood pooled in the shattered fragments of concrete as Carcharius finally relented with the assault, before spinning around and brining his razor-sharp tail fin across the dragon's neck. The cut was clean, unlike the myriad of ragged wounds generated by the mutant's other weapons. But blood flowed freely as Thantos gurgled in a desperate attempt to fight back, blood filling his throat.
Carcharius just snarled as he grabbed Thantos by the horns and prepared to twist the dragon's head off, a final decapitation before his true prize would be available...

ooc: Quite agreed. Ref, mind call da shots?
--------
Instead of having that happen, Thanatos rolled with and avoided it all together outside of anything breaking and snapping.
Still, Carcharius pulled the dragon over the ground and into the earth again. Thanatos had just about enough of this shit. Rage was just seething in every vein, muscle and fiber like you would not believe. And the thing with this type or dragon.... you simply did not do that even if you were ignorant to it. Pulling his head back, the king of Africa dodged back as the shark tried to regain the upper hand. But he missed, and thats when Thanatos pulled back his claw and brought it across and beneath the dragons already torn open torso... Carcharius's guts were already exposed bad. The blow quite literally gored and slashed out a good heap of them and sent the sharks lower digestive track out all over the field with part of it still hanging inside.
Surprisingly, Carcharius hardly felt it. Other then being aware and making some sort of attempt of not trip over them, it slowed him down. Too much at that. Now Carcharius was in severe trouble. In his own retarded(Slow) movements, Thanatos threw out his claw again and this time dragged his nails right through the bioweapon-gone-wild's neck. His throat was literally torn open and his esophagus severed from his mouth. Try to swallow now! he dared the beast.
But Carcharius just glared up and attempted to roar the words. "Hun...g..rrryyy! FOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!"
Carcharis again came, but his injuries were now catching up. Thanatos easily pulled to the side and rammed into the shark, pinning him halfway. Despite the sharks claws digging up at the stomach, Thanatos had him and it was time to end this here, now, and make sure this shark remembered him and not to cross him ever again. Prying the jaws open, Thanatos brought up his biggest volume of fire. "Hungry? he growled. Feast upon this... Virtually kissing the damn fish, Thanatos sent every ounce rocket down into the sharks stomach. The results were on epic proportions.
Carcharius's stomach quite literally exploded and the force shot throughout the monsters body. The force stripped every ounce of burnt flesh from whatever remained of the ribcage, leaving a upper body burning like a lit torch. Compared to what he did to Ketos, this was worse. What little flesh remained upon Carcharius's back was burning like a torch since his skin was already dried out from flames before. Organs? Few remained. Most were on fire as well and would soon be ash unless put out soon. Some were falling apart and littering the ground while still burning. Ribs overflowing with fir and upward, Carcharius pulled himself free of the dragon just barely(mostly cause Thanatos let go, pleased with his results) and got up, stumbling along as a living torch. His roars and shrieks were loud and twisted from the flames filling his orifices. Not even could ignore this. His aim was the shallow water nearby, what very little remained. After Thanatos's Stoorworms Hunger, it was only a dwarf of its original size.
Even as he went, Thanatos wanted more. He hacked another ball of fire up and spat it out at the monsters back just as he was at the ponds edge to smack him in the back while he was already down, per say...

"Attention monsters! This match is a draw."
Both monsters took and dealt punishment pretty well. Too close to call. Great job guys.

(Enjoy the victory Akantor)
A draw...Carcharius knew what that meant. He would be returned to a drugged stupor while his wounds healed. It meant that he had been denied his shot at Hera. Only by defeating her guardian could he hope to gain access to the source of his rage. Thanatos, already a bloody wreck of his former self, was still waiting on him it seemed. As if he expected the announcers to remove this wretch from his sight.
But...if Carcharius was a wretch, it was only because of his counter-part. She was responsible for this. And there was only one thing between them. The so called "lord" of Africa. Thanatos...oh how he hated this thing before him. This all consuming hatred was what drove him to stand, his guts mangled and exposed as they were. The dragon's fire had reduced his flesh to ash, the burning of the flames reduced to only the burning of hatred.
"You have not bested me, beast! I have proved that I am still strong," Thanatos crowed as Carcharius staggered forward, jaws still gaping in hunger. "Now begone from my sight!"
Carcharius ignored him though. A trail of blood and viscera leaked behind him as he approached. Thanatos snorted with contempt. If this thing wanted to fight, then he would truly reduce it to ash. And as Thanatos inhaled, preparing to deliver one final strike, the shark struck. Muscles and tissues that were not slowed by pain, only the damage they had endured, surged with one final effort as Carcharius slammed his jaws shut around the dragon's throat!
Flames erupted into the air as Carcharius grasped the dragon by the horns and slammed him to the ground, smashing his thick skull into the pavement. The announcer warned of impending retribution, but Carcharius did not care. He did not desire to eat Thantos, only to end his miserable existence. And, in one fluid motion, Carcharius twisted the horns on the dragon's head, and with it, the monster's neck.
A sickening crack reverberated across the Arena as Thanatos flopped to the ground, his neck cracked, but not broken. He was paralyzed, helpless, and could only watch as Carcharius towered above him, ready to finish the job. But, fate would not be kind to the shark, as massive shells from the defenses nailed him from all sides, shredding what was left of his body. They drive him to the edge of the cage, where electricity surged through it, frying his nerves, making him unable to react.
"You were warned," was all the announcer said, as a beam of light struck Carcharius, or rather, what was left of him, removing him from sight, sending him back to his tank. The brass would decide whether he was worth keeping around later.
((Great fight. Remember, this is nothing personal. Just Carcharius not getting what he wants again.))

ooc: Twas a good fight. Brutal and badassary to the max. I can only imagine
Thanatos, pissed as ever, wanted to get up and chase down that damn fish and rip everything from him, tear him open and burn everything into ashes. But with a snapped neck, he could hardly move and feel nothing head down. Already it was healing, but as he was transported back to his chamber, he was healing even faster due to the green fluid he breathed in in his tank. No matter.. he made his point across with that monster. To get to Hera, he would be in the way... and he would not be as merciful next time..
