Name: Snowrochi, the Frost Hydra
Height: 100 meters
Length: 100 meters
Mass: 120,000 tons
Description:
In an alternate version of Earth, monsters and mankind have coexisted for thousands of years in spite of each side's attempts to wipe the other out. Science, industry, culture...all have been shaped by the constant struggle with the monsters that inhabit the world, eventually leading to the union of humanity under one banner. One of the most infamous monsters in that world is the strange eight-headed, eight-legged creature that is known in modern times as Snowrochi, so named because of its pale hide, ability to breathe frigid gusts, and the fact that its first recorded appearance was in the Arctic Circle. It has since been sighted around the world, typically in areas known for production of fine liquors. Historical reports suggest the beast consumes the product as it attacks, leading some biologists to theorize it produces a natural antifreeze to survive in cold environments. A story from old times, taking place during one of the few wars fought between humans in this world, suggests that one country attempted to use Snowrochi's proclivity towards alcohol to lure it to an enemy city, but the beast backtracked to where the lure came from and destroyed that city instead. In modern times, the Snowrochi is seen as a force of nature, capable of causing great devastation or great benefit, both frequently in the form of encounters with other creatures that come across it. For a time, it was believed that the Snowrochi could appear and disappear in a whisp of frigid wind, though in modern times it was discovered that it "simply" could camoflauge itself to blend into its environment. Eventually, it was lured into a trap with eight kinds of fine beverage, placed in a circle around the creature. While the eight head tugged the body in different directions, the UCA teleported it to its new home.
Personality: The Snowrochi is said to be like an iceberg, patient, slow to act, and impossible to stop. If left alone, it is certainly content to go about its business. If provoked or something bothers it, it (slowly) flies into a rage, aggressively attacking whatever may be causing it distress, looking for an excuse to battle until it gets what it wants. In those rare regions that offer it tribute, in acts as something of a protector, keeping other creatures from entering what it perceives as its territory.
Attacks:
- Frost Breath: Each head of the Snowrochi is capable of exhaling a freezing gust of wind that can ice to build up on an opponent's body. The build-up rarely does more than somewhat impede movement though as the environment is rarely cold enough to keep the ice from melting.
- Hail Breath: Each head of the Snowrochi is capable of exhaling a spray of large, sharpened chunks of ice that rip into an opponent's body.
- Cryogenic Venom: Each head has a venom in its teeth that, when injected into an enemy's body, begins to freeze their vital fluids. Most bodies are too warm to totally freeze up, but the effect can disorient even the sharpest mind. It has no effect on machines.
Powers:
- Camoflauge: The skin of the Snowrochi is capable of changing color to match its surroundings.
Weakness:
- Docility: After consuming alcoholic beverages, the Snowrochi seems to lose the will to fight, defending itself as necessary as it attempts to leave the area.
- Confusion: Each of the Snowrochi's heads has a mind of its own. While the eight are typically in accord, dividing the creature's attention can immobilize it while the brains fight for control of their legs.
